MSNBC’s Chris Hayes vented over the Trump administration’s “de-escalation” of tensions with Iran, slamming reports of a new airstrike in Baghdad.
Hayes tweeted Friday evening amid reports of an airstrike allegedly targeting leaders of a pro-Iran militia following Thursday’s Trump-ordered airstrike that killed Iranian Quds Force commander Qasem Soleimani in Iraq just days after New Year’s attacks on the U.S. Embassy compound in Baghdad.

“I guess the de-escalation of last night’s airstrike wasn’t enough to fully de-escalate and stop war,” Hayes tweeted, mocking claims that the administration is not looking to escalate tensions in the Middle East.
“So today the US has ordered another airstrike at a top Iraqi militia commander to further de-escalate and stop even more war,” the MSNBC host mocked.
“We took action last night to stop a war,” Trump said Friday. “We did not take action to start a war.”

The Pentagon revealed that Soleimani, a longtime enemy of the U.S. who was reportedly responsible for the deaths of hundreds of U.S. personnel, was “developing plans to attack American diplomats and service members in Iraq” and the Middle East region.
But even as criticism by Democrats and the left continued to pour in against the president’s decision, another airstrike was reported north of Baghdad.

Reports came in Friday that five members of an Iran-backed militia were killed in another airstrike. Reuters reported that the strikes killed six people and critically wounded three.

But conflicting reports with varying details made the news even more confusing.

A trusted source from the PMU told me that the reason of the conflicting news about the identity of those who were killed in Al-Taji strike is that the corpses are fully charred.#Baghdad #Iraq

But the US denied the reports.
“The Coalition did NOT conduct airstrikes near Camp Taji (north of Baghdad) in recent days,” Colonel Myles B. Caggins III, spokesman for the coalition fighting ISIS in Iraq and Syria, said in a statement.

The Iran-backed Popular Mobilization Forces claimed the strike targeted a medical convoy but said none of its top leaders were killed.

Meanwhile, Hayes’ knee-jerk reaction to the airstrike before it was even determined who was involved – or who even launched the attack – was just more of the same from the anti-Trump mainstream media.
you can sleep confidently tonight Chris …trump’s got this
