With the Democrat-run House set to vote in favor of impeaching President Donald Trump strictly along party lines, the president released a scathing six-page letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and her party of co-conspirators, ripping them for “declaring open war on American Democracy.”
Under siege for three long years, from before he ever took office, Trump called the effort to take him out a “partisan attempted coup,” as the Democratic Party’s media allies rallied to their side, describing the letter as “rambling” and “angry.”
(The Kool-Aid drinkers called it “crazy,” prompting the 25th Amendment to trend.)
President Trump informs Pelosi that he’s expressing his “strongest and most powerful protest against the partisan impeachment crusade being pursued by the Democrats in the House of Representatives.”
“This impeachment represents an unprecedented and unconstitutional abuse of power by Democrat Lawmakers, unequaled in nearly two and a half centuries of American legislative history,” the letter said.
The president said the two articles of impeachment introduced, abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, “are not recognizable under any standard of Constitutional theory, interpretation, or jurisprudence.
“They include no crimes, no misdemeanors, and no offenses whatsoever. You have cheapened the importance of the very ugly word, impeachment!” he said.
Trump takes Democrats to task for invoking the Founding Fathers in what’s all but certain to be looked back on as a shameful period in American history.
“By proceeding with your invalid impeachment, you are violating your oaths of office, you are breaking your allegiance to the Constitution, and you are declaring open war on American Democracy,” he wrote. “You dare to invoke the Founding Fathers in pursuit of this election-nullification scheme — yet your spiteful actions display unfettered contempt for America’s founding and your egregious conduct threatens to destroy that which our Founders pledged their very lives to build.”
“It is a terrible thing you are doing, but you will have to live with it, not I!” Trump said.
The president insisted that the one-sided campaign to remove him from office is a result of him defeating Hillary Clinton in 2016.
“Everyone, you included, knows what is really happening,” he added. “Your chosen candidate lost the election in 2016, in an Electoral College landslide (306-227), and you and your party have never recovered from this defeat. You have developed a full-fledged case of what many in the media call Trump Derangement Syndrome and sadly, you will never get over it! You are unwilling and unable to accept the verdict issued at the ballot box during the great Election of 2016. So you have spent three straight years attempting to overturn the will of the American people and nullify their votes. You view democracy as your enemy!”
Further exposing the opposition’s ploy, President Trump accused Pelosi and Co. of doing precisely what they accuse him of.
“You are the ones interfering in America’s elections,” the letter said. “You are the ones subverting America’s Democracy. You are the ones Obstructing Justice. You are the ones bringing pain and suffering to our Republic for your own selfish personal, political, and partisan gain.”
The letter offers a detailed take on Trump’s call to the Ukrainian president, which is allegedly at the center of the Democrats’ pursuit of the president.
Former FBI director James Comey is slammed as “one of the dirtiest cops our Nation has ever seen,” and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif, is accused of having “cheated and lied all the way up to the present day.”
Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., was also referenced for declaring in Jan. 2018, after she was sworn in, “We’re gonna go in there and we’re gonna impeach the motherf****r.”
The letter details the successes of the Trump administration, as he tells Pelosi, “Your party simply cannot compete with our record.”
“You cannot defend your extreme policies — open borders, mass migration, high crime, crippling taxes, socialized healthcare, destruction of American energy, late-term taxpayer-funded abortion, elimination of the Second Amendment, radical far-left theories of law and justice, and constant partisan obstruction of both common sense and common good,” he added.
In calling the impeachment effort “an illegal, partisan attempted coup,” Trump said that Democrats will pay at the voting booth and told Pelosi her legacy will be stained for “making a mockery of impeachment.”
“History will judge you harshly as you proceed with this impeachment charade. Your legacy will be that of turning the House of Representatives from a revered legislative body into a Star Chamber of partisan persecution,” the president said.
In closing, Trump said he wrote the letter “for the purpose of history and to put my thoughts on a permanent and indelible record.”
The letter concluded: “One hundred years from now, when people look back at this affair, I want them to understand it, and learn from it, so that it can never happen to another President again.”
