For people who whine so incessantly about alleged misinformation/disinformation, the partisan operatives in the demonstrably liberal mainstream media have no qualms about using misinformation, disinformation and outright lies to smear people.
They’ve done it to the Covington High School teens, they’ve done it to former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, they’ve done it to non-establishment journalist Andy Ngo and now some are doing it again to West Point and Naval Academy cadets.
During an Army-Navy football game Saturday, two West Point cadets and one Naval Academy were captured on camera making the “ok” hand gesture.
Watch:
Despite the “ok” hand gesture being a universally accepted gesture — one most prominently linked to the “circle game,” which was made popular by the teen-oriented TV sitcom “Malcolm in the Middle” years ago — the media pounced.
“Pregame festivities aired by ESPN showed cadets on both sides of the rivalry — two West Point cadets and one Naval Academy midshipman — making gestures as a camera focused on a sideline report from journalist Rece Davis,” NBC’s write-up reads.
“At least one of the gestures resembled a white supremacist symbol described by the Southern Poverty Law Center as ‘the thumb and forefinger joined together in a circle, the remaining three fingers splayed out behind.‘”
NBC, which was quick to join the smear bandwagon against the underage Covington teens earlier this year — neglected to mention the “circle game.” Nor did it include any disclaimers about the SPLC, which, far from being an authoritative source, has been shown to be a radically left-wing smear merchant masquerading as a civil-rights organization.
Included in NBC’s write-up was a tweet from “Looky Yonder”:
— Looky Yonder (@YonderLooky) December 14, 2019
“Looky Yonder” is an unverified Twitter user whose feed includes a retweet of the following homophobic post about Sen. Lindsey Graham:
NBC wasted little time smearing America’s military cadets.
USA Today, HuffPost and The Wall Street Journal also ran reports about the cadets’ alleged white supremacist gesture, though to their credit all three outlets mentioned the “circle game,” and none of them sourced the discredited SPLC.
Nevertheless, the media’s obsession with rooting out white supremacy — even where it clearly isn’t present — was enough to provoke members of the blue checkmark Twitterati “Resistance” to action. As usual, they rushed to prove that they’re horrible people.

Trumps America #ArmyNavyGame a bunch of cadets throwing up the white power symbol on national television. Hopefully they will face disciplinary action. #Disgusted

Cadets are supposed to be our best and brightest. And this guy flashes a White Power symbol on TV. And over the shoulder of his fellow cadet of color. A disgraceful sign of the era. https://t.co/PghoSeNbb5
— Bryan Behar (@bryanbehar) December 15, 2019
If it is true that these West Point cadets flashed the white power sign, look for Donald Trump to pardon them and then offer White House staff positions.

White cadets throwing up the white power symbol on national TV during the #ArmyNavyGame.
But racism is dying out with this generation, right?
Nah, it’s being passed down and is alive and thriving in white America.pic.twitter.com/OSPFMFUPri

White power symbols. From Army cadets. Knowing they are on live television.
Trump emboldens this trash. He absolutely does.
These guys should be kicked out immediately. https://t.co/yONUKu1Z25— mike freeman (@mikefreemanNFL) December 14, 2019
those cadets making the white power symbol all have the same white mama’s boy smirk as that kid who intimidated the tribal elder. it’s fascinating, and white people are vile

Note how the latter tweet included a continuation of the long-debunked smears against the underage Covington High School boys who were smeared earlier this year.
And this is of course how it always happens. The media pick a target to smear, the media proceed to smear the target, and then the smearing of the target seeps into and becomes a permanent component of the country’s subconsciousness.
Suffice it to say, no matter how much evidence exists to the contrary, thanks to the media some people will always believe the Covington kids are bullies and thugs, while some folks will always believe President Donald Trump colluded with the Russians.
Regarding the “ok” hand gesture, here’s just a sliver of proof that the attacks against America’s military cadets are nothing but another smear job:
BREAKING: LEAKED photographs show Democrat Presidential Candidate Joe Biden doing a White Power hand symbol.
These photos are from multiple occasions.
A pattern is a pattern.
He must drop out immediately. pic.twitter.com/n9kiEoGX5r

Seems folks had no problem with President Obama using the “OK” sign. pic.twitter.com/DeBXLGLwXH

Apparently Liberals are still spreading that the OK sign is for white supremacy…they don’t get when they are being trolled. Guess no one told AOC pic.twitter.com/b2fjeqIIjZ

Yes, the lion and the OK sign are symbols of white supremacy. Everyone knows that ? pic.twitter.com/5xVyv5ZLl6

You get the picture.
The roots of the “ok” sign are two-pronged.
Besides being used just to signal OK, the symbol is also linked to the “circle game,” which was popularized on the classic TV show “Malcolm in the Middle”:
https://youtu.be/1glTOFPECNI
How then did some come to believe it’s rooted in white supremacy? Because of Internet trolls, naturally.
“In February 2017, 4chan users started the hoax ‘Operation O-KKK,’ a call to spread the sign around the internet and claim it as a symbol of white supremacy,” Yahoo News notes. “The anonymous 4channer who started it added a graphic demonstrating how the gesture could spell out the letters WP for ‘white power.'”
And of course, the left-wing media fell hook, line and sinker for 4chan’s shenanigans.
Well done.
Why so many in the media continue to propagate this lie — despite it being debunked years ago — remains unknown, though social media users have some thoughts on the matter.
Look [LANGUAGE WEARNING]:
This bullshit where liberals attempt to define innocuous gestures as hate crimes is simply their way of asserting power by causing others to take their lies seriously.
The proper response is a middle finger gesture.
— Kurt Schlichter (@KurtSchlichter) December 15, 2019
This is a scummy slander by leftist liars trying to defame our troops with the lie that an innocuous and common hand gesture is some secret symbol used by entities like the Democrat-created KKK.
Screw off, liars. https://t.co/6Z95iFpjox
— Kurt Schlichter (@KurtSchlichter) December 15, 2019
This is a warning to the media…
If you Convington the cadets, you will be held accountable in court in front of a jury and not in your comfortable, sympathetic blue enclave venue.
Do not participate in the defamation of these American heroes.@RonColeman @pnjaban @Barnes_Law
— Kurt Schlichter (@KurtSchlichter) December 15, 2019
If you want to know why Trump calls the media “fake news” look no further than every publication accusing cadets of using a “white power” symbol right now.
— Caleb Hull ??? (@CalebJHull) December 15, 2019
The fact that the circle game turned into a bunch of blue checks leading the charge on a national news cycle around accusing cadets of being white supremacists is exactly why I never trust what people publish anymore
— Caleb Hull ??? (@CalebJHull) December 15, 2019
People who think cadets were throwing up a #WhitePower sign and not playing the circle game are fucking morons.
— Greg G. (@gsquarednc) December 15, 2019
And for some inexplicable reason, morons tend to be left-wingers …
