Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats must think the American people are the entirely stupid.
How else can the “ludicrous” act of praising President Donald Trump for the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) an hour or so after announcing articles of impeachment against the president be explained?
Ludicrous optics. https://t.co/iikrM8pHLV

The optics being that Democrats want the American people to believe that the party is still focused on the people’s business amid a partisan obsession with taking down the president, undermining the GOP’s “Do-Nothing Democrats” talking point.
And to suggest that they are reasonable and willing to work with the president when there’s common ground, even if the last three years runs counter to that narrative.
After announcing two articles of impeachment Tuesday morning against President Trump, alleging abuse of power and obstruction of Congress, Pelosi and Co. stood in from of cameras to announced they have reached a deal with the White House on the trade agreement with Canada and Mexico.
“This is a day we’ve all been working to and working for on the path to yes,” Pelosi said.

“There is no question of course that this trade agreement is much better than NAFTA, but in terms of our work here, it is infinitely better than what was initially proposed by the administration,” Pelosi said.
When asked why give Trump a victory on a major legislative issue while proceeding with articles of impeachment, Pelosi said: “We’re declaring victory for the American worker and what is in this agreement.”
She also insisted it was “not a coincidence” the USMCA agreement was announced on the same day as articles of impeachment.
“It’s just that as we get to the end of a session, there have to be some decisions made,” Pelosi said.
Of course, the speaker sat on the legislation for months and months.
In an October tweet, the president complained that “Nervous Nancy” was taking too long.
Can’t believe that Nervous Nancy Pelosi isn’t moving faster on USMCA. Her people want it, they don’t know why she isn’t putting it up for a bipartisan vote. Taking too long!

Sen. Joni Earnst, R-Iowa, noted in a tweet Tuesday that Pelosi “sat on USMCA for 1 YEAR.”
Nancy Pelosi sat on USMCA for 1 YEAR. Only agrees to a Trump deal now that the Senate won’t have time to move before 2020. This might have been fun for the #squad but’s it’s dangerous for Iowa. I look forward to passing the USMCA and stopping the Dems parade of partisan antics.

But today, of all days, Democrats finally see the light, making for interesting timing, as former game show host Chuck Woolery tweeted:
Interesting timing by the Democrats. Impeach Trump on the same day you announce voting for USMCA?

Here’s a sampling of other responses from Twitter:
The US-Mexico-Canada Agreement is a win for the American worker and has been since the day President Trump signed it over a year ago.
Dems delayed #USMCA for too long. But finally—after months of relentless advocacy from Republicans—we’re one step closer.

Republicans pushed for a deal on #USMCA for months while Pelosi wasted time on her impeachment sham.
We finally have an agreement. Passing @realDonaldTrump‘s strong trade deal will be a major boost for our economy and a huge win for American workers.
No more delays. Let’s vote!

Instead of the stupid, highly partisan impeachment sham, House Dems should have issued statement praising @realDonaldTrump for getting USMCA. Dems wasted months delaying but make no mistake it’s @POTUS who made this happen. Thank U, Mr. President and let’s vote Dems out in 2020.

Great win today for @realDonaldTrump and the American people getting the USMCA finazlized. Thank you for bringing manufacturing jobs back to the USA!

Well the Speaker has to know we are not stupid they did nothing for over 2 years except investigate our President now with this sham impeachment she gives us these crumbs
— Freedom_Gal (@M_Nels) December 10, 2019
It’s not going to help her. Should have done that months ago. She’s trying to show I can do more than impeachment.

Pelosi let them drive off the cliff. Meanwhile she forged ahead on USMCA. This is to say “told you, saved you. NOW let me drive and perhaps I can save you”.

They have to check the boxes before going home and hearing they did nothing.

Who convinces this lady that these tactics are viewed as great by the public. Like the wizard of OZ I don’t think she knows we can see behind the curtain
