Dems pick twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton as 2020 frontrunner in party poll

They never learn …

Even though failed Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Rodham Clinton led her party to a stunning electoral landslide defeat three years ago (not-to-mention previously failing in the 2008 primaries), the Democrat Party base reportedly wants her back for another round of potential humiliation.

A Harvard-Harris poll conducted late last month specifically found that if Clinton were to enter the 2020 race, right out the gate she’d lead the pack with 21 percent of support among Democrats.

Current front-runners Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders would meanwhile trail her, respectively, at 20 percent and 12 percent.

If Clinton entered the race, she’d therefore be the front-runner … AGAIN!

(Well, at least so long as former first lady Michelle Obama didn’t also enter the race.)

The numbers tell a different story when independents are factored into the equation. In that scenario, Clinton and Biden’s support levels both drop to 15 percent, leaving them in a tie. Apparently, independents aren’t as favorable toward Clinton as Democrats.

The poll results from Harvard-Harris poll appear to be just the latest proof that, despite her litany of flaws, the Democrat Party just can’t rid itself of Clinton.

What remains unclear is whether she’ll actually enter the race. While she’s repeatedly asserted that she has no intention of running, reports have emerged suggesting otherwise.

Rumors have likewise persisted nonstop, with the latest one being dropped by former White House Chief of Staff Steve Bannon.

Speaking over the weekend on Fox News, he theorized that Clinton plans to use former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s recent entrance into the race to serve as the jump off point for her own bid.

“Hillary Clinton is waiting for her shot to come in and say, ‘I’m going to save the Democratic Party,’ that Michael Bloomberg is a liberal or moderate Republican. He’s not a Democrat,” the former Trump administration official claimed.

As proof, he cited Clinton’s recent appearance on shock jock Howard Stern’s radio show: “The Howard Stern interview tells me more than anything that she’s coming in,” he said.

While it’s not clear which specific part of the interview led Bannon to conclude that Clinton’s entrance into the race is set in stone, the failed 2016 nominee did notably refuse during her interview to back any current candidate.

“It’s up to the voters to decide. I think it’s too soon to tell because nobody has voted or caucused, so right now, according to the polls, Biden is going to get the nomination. But that’s, you know, a long way off,” she reportedly said.

Hmm …

But there’s more. The New York Post notes that, despite requests from Stern, Clinton refused to appear on his program during the 2016 election. Then after she lost the election, the shock jock host theorized that she may have won had she just shown up.

“Stern publicly begged Hillary to appear during the 2016 campaign. After Donald Trump won, Stern said one guest shot could have moved the needle her way …,” the Post notes.

“One can only ask: Why now, if she has no plans to run yet again? Sure, it’s possible she just loves being part of the national conversation. But of all the venues such a serious stateswoman could choose, one whose public presentation has been so carefully cultivated over decades, really: Howard Stern?

Fair question.

Dick Morris, a political commentator who once worked as a consultant for Clinton’s husband, former President Bill Clinton, also believes her entrance into the race is certain. As proof, in a radio interview on Sunday, he cited Biden and fellow 2020 contender Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s steady decline in the polls.

“I think there is a good shot at [Hillary running],” he said to radio station WNYM host John Catsimatidis. “The latest poll numbers … give her a real opening. In the latest polling in Iowa and New Hampshire, they reflect that Biden and Warren have both taken a dive.”

“Biden and Warren were blocking the lanes Hillary needs to run in in order to get nominated. Warren, because she’s a woman. And now with Kamala Harris out of the race, and Warren having slipped, that road may be open. Hillary may be able to say, vote for me, because I’m the only chance we have to elect a woman president.”

Clinton and her allies do certainly have a record of trying to exploit her gender (and anything and everything else in existence) to benefit her politically.

“And the lane that Biden had been occupying, that is the lane that people would say, ‘Well, let’s at least join somebody that’s shown they can beat Donald Trump, that’s shown they have the ability to win a national election like Biden did,'” Morris continued.

“And Hillary will basically say, ‘I have that capacity. I got more votes than Donald Trump did last time. … I know I can beat this guy. People should vote for me because I’m the only proven warrior out there that could tackle him.'”

Plus, the polls give her a decent chance of winning the nomination. And God knows that some among the Democrat Party are literally BEGGING her to run:

As written earlier, they never learn …
