According to unabashed conservative commentator Ann Coulter, notably anti-Trump “Republican” Sen. Mitt Romney might be a feckless old … woman?
She expressed this snarky perspective on the two-time failed presidential candidate Saturday evening after The Hill ran a report on the chances of President Donald Trump actually being convicted by the GOP-led Senate.
While the odds remain inordinately thin (which is why the president wants a trial), the chances that some Republican senators may effectively stab him in the back and vote for conviction do exist.
And according to Senate insiders and outside political observers who’ve spoken with The Hill, it’s almost guaranteed that Sens. Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and Sen. Romney, of course, will ultimately wind up being among the backstabbers.
In response to this report, Coulter tweeted the following “breaking” news late Saturday:
BREAKING: The Hill newspaper names 3 GOP senators as possible votes to convict Trump. Turns out they’re all legendarily feckless old ladies: Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins, & Mitt Romney.

Oof!
Is Romney deserving of such a diss, though? The evidence suggests he is.
“Romney has emerged as one of Trump’s toughest Republican critics in Congress since taking office in January,” The Hill’s report reads.
This despite Trump offering “some of the most conservative governance” seen in decades, as admitted to last year by Ben Shapiro, a former virulently “Never Trump” Republican who refused to vote for him in 2016 but has since come around.
The senator has also been quick to buy into the Democrat Party’s phony narratives.
“He has called Trump’s prodding of Ukrainian officials to investigate Biden ‘troubling in the extreme.’ When the president also called on China to investigate Biden, Romney blasted the move as ‘wrong and appalling,'” The Hill notes.
Romney is among those who are 100 percent confident that there’s “ZERO EVIDENCE” to suggest any shadiness or wrongdoing by former Vice President Joe Biden, never mind the mounds of evidence suggesting otherwise.
And also never mind the president’s repeated assertions that the whistleblower scandal is much ado about nothing, not that the “pompous ‘ass'” that is Romney has been willing to listen to him:
Somebody please wake up Mitt Romney and tell him that my conversation with the Ukrainian President was a congenial and very appropriate one, and my statement on China pertained to corruption, not politics. If Mitt worked this hard on Obama, he could have won. Sadly, he choked!

Mitt Romney never knew how to win. He is a pompous “ass” who has been fighting me from the beginning, except when he begged me for my endorsement for his Senate run (I gave it to him), and when he begged me to be Secretary of State (I didn’t give it to him). He is so bad for R’s!

Moreover, sources reportedly “familiar with Romney’s thinking” have suggested he’s more concerned with how he looks than he is with being a royal Republican.
“A Republican source familiar with Romney’s thinking told The Hill in October that the Utah senator is ‘more concerned about his legacy in terms of his family, his faith, his country and his party’ than about whether he is popular with fellow Senate Republicans,” The Hill reports.
And he’s allegedly a man of high integrity and intelligence …
“I’m sure he’s deeply troubled by Trump’s actions because he’s a person of pristine integrity and high intellect,” the senator’s former 2012 presidential campaign adviser Vin Weber said.
He’s a man of such high integrity, in fact, that he used a secret Twitter account to promote himself and insult those he dislikes. He’s likewise a man of such high intelligence that he “accidentally” exposed himself by telling the media the exact number of accounts he follows. *facepalm*
Unfortunately, his so-called integrity and intellect haven’t translated into support.
“Romney may have won his seat with 62 percent of the vote in 2018, but only 46 percent of registered voters in the state approve of his handling of the job some 10 months into office, according to a survey by Utah Policy and Y2 Analytics. Just over half of Utahns (51 percent) give Romney bad marks,” The Salt Lake Tribune reported two months ago.
Ouch!
Coulter’s tweet, as of Sunday morning, boasted 17,000 likes, nearly 5,000 retweets, and only about 1,500 comments, meaning it hadn’t been ratioed.
Rather, it’d attracted an endless stream of replies from those in stark agreement with her sentiment on Romney and his other “feckless, old” and notably female peers:
The RINO’s want Trump impeached? I’m shocked!!

These three are Republicans? ?

Re Romney . . Any elected official who constructs a fake twitter account to hide behind to criticize others and build his own image should be voted out of office. Elementary school behavior. And this guy wants to be president? God help us.

He is just another John McCain and Mitt Romney! Get what you can from our President and become one of those ole West shoot’em only in the back types because they cannot stand up face to face with integrity!

Some also responded with humor:
Haha. You called Mitt Romney a lady. ?
