The only nonpartisan witness at the House Judiciary Committee’s first impeachment hearing has since Wednesday reportedly faced a barrage of harassment and threats from the peaceful, loving, tolerant, “Kumbaya”-loving left.
Jonathan Turley, a civil libertarian, legal scholar, attorney and George Washington University Law School professor who didn’t vote for President Donald Trump but spoke in his defense anyway out of commitment to the truth, has been “inundated with threatening messages and demands that I be fired from GW,” he revealed in a tweet Thursday:

According to investigative reporter Sara Carter, one of his harassers sent an email to his employer, George Washington University, calling him a “sad excuse of a man” and demanding he be reprimanded for speaking the truth.
“I am writing you all after listening to Jonathan Turley’s disgraceful statement defending the corrupt and impeachable actions of President Trump at the House Judiciary impeachment hearing today,” the email reportedly read.
“I know you all cringe inside knowing that you are affiliated in some way with Turley and have to work or study at the same institution in which he is employed. He is defending the indefensible and I hope that all of the Deans at GWU Law and the students will recognize that he is not serving in the best interest of our country and is a detriment to the success of your school’s future reputation. His actions today were spineless and shameful. He is clearly a lackey for the Trump Administration.”
Turley has repeatedly criticized the Trump administration.
Conversely, the three anti-Trump witnesses who also testified Wednesday have all been outed as rabidly partisan left-wingers whose opinions on the matter are extremely suspect.
In the case of the Democrats’ star witness, allegedly esteemed Stanford Law School professor Pamela Karlan, she’s further been outed as a self-described “snarky, bisexual” leftist who’s donated to Democrats all her life and was on failed Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s Supreme Court shortlist.

Yet despite the three witnesses clearly being lackeys for the Democrat Party, as of Friday morning zero reports of them being inundated with harassment and threats had emerged, suggesting that — as usual — the hatred is entirely one-sided.
And this despite Turley’s call for civility. In his statement Wednesday, he spoke of the “respectful and substantive” nature of former President Bill Clinton’s impeachment hearings — which he also participated in — and shared his hope that Trump’s ongoing impeachment hearings would remain equally civil.
“In truth, the Clinton impeachment hearing proved to be an exception to the tenor of the overall public debate,” he said, contrasting the “rancor and rage” of the then-ongoing public debate over the impeachment with the behavior of Congress and its witnesses.
“The testimony from witnesses, ranging from Arthur Schlesinger Jr. to Laurence Tribe to Cass Sunstein, contained divergent views and disciplines. Yet the hearing remained respectful and substantive as we all grappled with this difficult matter. I appear today in the hope that we can achieve that same objective of civil and meaningful discourse despite our good faith differences on the impeachment standard and its application to the conduct of President Donald J. Trump.”
But in an op-ed published Thursday, a day after he testified, he lamented that the opposite appears to be occurring, in part because of the “scorched earth tactics” that the Democrats have employed to smear him.
In one instance, failed Democrat presidential candidate Rep. Eric Swalwell attacked him over his prior legal work for a since-impeached federal judge.
“Representative Eric Swalwell of California attacked me for defending my client, Judge Thomas Porteous, in the last impeachment trial and noted that I lost that case,” he wrote.
Swalwell appears to falsely believe that Turley’s private legal work somehow affects his credibility as an award-winning expert on legal matters.
Nevertheless, “many” of Swalwell’s Democrat peers “relished seeing my representations of an accused federal judge being used to attack my credibility, even as they claimed to defend the rule of law,” Turley continued.
And it appears this willingness to attack the legal scholar on a personal level (not to mention attack the president’s son) has been adopted by the Democrat Party’s rabid base, as evidenced by not only the harassment and threats he faces at home and work but online as well.
