Rep. Devin Nunes “wouldn’t care” if phone recordings included in the call logs released by the House Intelligence Committee were played for the American people as he has nothing to hide.
The California Republican addressed the phone records, which were released along with the committee Democrats’ impeachment report on Tuesday, and his defamation lawsuit against CNN with Fox News’ Sean Hannity.

The call logs revealed that Nunes, the ranking Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, spoke several times this past spring with President Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani as well as Giuliani’s Ukrainian associate Lev Parnas, who was recently indicted by the U.S. government.
“My sources are telling me that three of the four so-called calls were apparently just to Giuliani and maybe on Parnas’ phone under a minute,” the Fox News host asked Nunes on “Hannity” Tuesday.
“The House Intelligence Committee, we are the oversight committee. We have Americans and foreigners contact us every single day with information. We take that information. You know, we see them somewhere, we listen. We say can you get this to the appropriate lawyer or staff member on the committee,” Nunes said, recalling that he spoke a few times with the former New York City mayor back in April because of the release of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report on Russian election interference.
“And during that time, if you remember, that was right when Robert Mueller completely bombed and flamed out,” Nunes said. “So, I remember talking to Rudy Giuliani. And we were actually laughing about how Mueller bombed out.”
“Everything I spoke with Rudy Giuliani about is nothing that I wouldn’t care if the American people found out,” he told Hannity.
“Did you ever talk to this guy Les Parnas or whatever his name is?” Hannity asked.
“You know, it’s possible,” Nunes replied. “I haven’t gone through my phone records. I don’t really recall that name.”
He added that he recalls the name of Giuliani’s associate now “because he’s been indicted.”
“But why would CNN rely on somebody like this? I will go back and check my records, but it seems very unlikely I will be taking calls from random people,” the congressman added. “Like I said, we have a process, standard operating procedure. You call my office or you call me or see me out on the street, I will do my job and do my duty. I’ll take your information, I’ll get it to the appropriate staff person or the appropriate agency in that matter.”

Nunes also called out Parnas and his lawyers and “whatever game they’re up to.”
“I can guarantee you that. I don’t know what these guys are up to. But the long arm of the law is going to catch them,” he said.
Nunes filed a 47-page lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia on Tuesday alleging CNN published a “demonstrably false hit piece” about him. The report was based on allegations from Parnas’ lawyer that Nunes met with former Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin in Vienna “to discuss digging up dirt” on former Vice President Joe Biden.
“It’s clear to me CNN has had an ax to grind,” Nunes told Hannity, slamming the “fake news” from CNN, saying he has photos to prove he was somewhere else at the time.
“They shouldn’t be listening to somebody who has been indicted, okay? It’s really really bad on their part. It’s reckless. It’s clearly reckless,” he added.
The lawmaker is seeking at least $435,350,000 in damages from the network, claiming in the lawsuit that the report aimed “to advance the impeachment inquiry, to seed doubt in the minds of Americans, and to influence the outcome of the 2020 election.”
“It was obvious to everyone — including disgraceful CNN — that Parnas was a fraudster and a hustler,” Nunes’s lawsuit stated, according to Fox News. “It was obvious that his lies were part of a thinly-veiled attempt to obstruct justice and to trick either the United States Attorney or House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) into offering ‘immunity’ in return for ‘information’ about Plaintiff — a prominent United States Congressman and Ranking Member of the House Intelligence Committee.”
“CNN harbors an institutional hatred, extreme bias, spite and ill-will towards Plaintiff, the GOP and President Trump, going back many years. CNN is notorious for making false claims about Republicans and publishing fake news that later has to be retracted,” the suit also stated.
