The convicted terrorist who was shot and killed by police on London Bridge Friday had been participating in a seminar in Fishmongers’ Hall organized by Cambridge University’s Criminology Department intended to help offenders integrate back into society after their release from prison, according to the Telegraph …
It is understood the former prisoner, who was still on licence and whose movements and travel were restricted, had been given permission to attend the event along with other convicted criminals.
The killer is thought to have attended the morning session, taking part in various workshops, in which he described his experiences as a prisoner, before launching his deadly attack without warning just before 2pm.
This is unbelievable. The Jihadi shot dead on #LondonBridge was not only a convicted terrorist who had been released on a tag but he was a guest of a Cambridge University sponsored conference in London today on “prisoner rehabilitation”. Usman Khan, a known Islamist militant, was wielding two knives which he used to kill two people in yesterday’s rampage, as well as to wound several others. He was released less than a year ago from his prison sentence.
According to a statement released by the Metropolitan Police, Khan was identified as the attacker whose furious attack was brought to a halt when he was shot in the head by police.
He was wearing a fake suicide vest and had stabbed five people before brave bystanders chased him and wrestled him down on the bridge before police arrived.
(VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED AGAIN) Different angle of the ongoing incident at London Bridge. Police can be heard yelling at civilians to “get back” before firing shots. Bravery shown by the public is jaw-dropping. Credit to Brendan Lacey #LondonBridge pic.twitter.com/ganE1jtnBi

Khan was convicted in 2012 for his part in a plot to bomb the London Stock Exchange. His terror gang also was found to have plans to kill now-Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and attack numerous other targets such as the U.S. Embassy and various synagogues in London. He served eight years in prison and was found to still be wearing his monitoring ankle bracelet.
Khan reportedly threatened to blow up the building before being chased out by at least six members of the public. One man had a fire extinguisher and another had grabbed a five-foot Narwhal whale tusk from the wall of the building to use to try to subdue the attacker who had two large knives, one of which was duct-taped securely to his hand.
One of the heroes who went after Khan and tackled him was found to in fact be a “convicted murderer out on day release.” Another was a tour guide.

The bridge was crowded with bystanders and multiple videos have been posted on social media showing several members of the public working together to subdue the attacker. Even still, as police arrived to take charge of the scene, Khan remained combative before he was shot and killed shortly after one man was pulled off him to allow for a clear shot.
“Tragically, two people — a man and a woman — were killed during the attack. Three others — a man and two women – were also injured and remain in hospital,” a Met Police spokesperson wrote in a statement.
A 2012 BBC article reported that Khan was one of nine men arrested in 2010 who were “members of an Al-Qaeda inspired terror group” who “plotted to bomb the London Stock Exchange and build a terrorist training camp.” His 2012 sentence stipulated he serve at least eight years in prison. The story reported the group was made up of “British nationals of Bangladeshi and Pakistani origin” and they were “Islamic fundamentalists.”
