A tweet by Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer turned Twitter into a conspiracy playground, with conservatives wondering exactly what he meant when he referred to Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman as a “whistleblower.”
“LTC Alexander Vindman and whistleblowers like him are patriots,” Schumer tweet on November 22. “They are standing up for the Constitution they swore an oath to defend. They don’t deserve these disgraceful attacks, and they must be protected from reprisals.”
LTC Alexander Vindman and whistleblowers like him are patriots.

They don’t deserve these disgraceful attacks, and they must be protected from reprisals.

Schumer appears to be implying that Vindman is some sort of whistleblower, and perhaps even one of the two whistleblowers reported to have emerged in light of a “controversial” call between United States President Donald Trump and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Twitter users questioned the senator’s curious use of the term in reference to Vindman, with some even wondering if he might be the whistleblower at the center of the complaint that led to the current impeachment inquiry.
@realDonaldTrump did Chuckles just OUT the whistleblower? “Whistleblowers Like Him”? @GOP @DevinNunes @SaraCarterDC

Would Cryin’ Chuck refer to Vindman “and whistleblowers like him” if Vindman wasn’t a whistleblower?

Lol. Schumer outed Vindman as a whistleblower

Some liberal tweeters suggested that Schumer “delete and rephrase” his tweet so as to avoid using the term “whistleblower.”
Agreed!! Schumer makes it sound like Vindman IS the whistleblower. FFS, DELETE and correct the damn content & context! pic.twitter.com/ZhsgNlCRRu

With the amount of secrecy and anonymity surrounding the whistleblower, it’s not surprising that people are under the impression that Vindman could possibly fit the bill. According to Republican Congressman Jim Jordan, Vindman — if not the whistleblower himself — certainly tipped off the anonymous person.
During his questioning of the Lieutenant Colonel, Jordan asked if Vindman had ever leaked information. He replied negatively, and that’s all it took for Jordan to put his detective hat on and get to the bottom of the case.
“But when we asked you, you first told us three individuals at the NSC, your brother, and two lawyers,” Jordan pointed out. “And then you said there was a group of other people you communicated with, but you would only give us one individual in that group — Secretary Kent. When we asked you who else you communicated with, you would not tell us. How many other people are in that group you communicated with outside the four individuals I just named?”
When Jordan attempted to get the name of the mysterious second individual, Schiff stepped in and whined about not outing the whistleblower. This seems to indicate that if Vindman himself is not the whistleblower, he seems to have had enough contact with him or those around him to perhaps have played a significant role in the creation of the complaint.
Regardless, it looks like Schumer’s tweet has people asking a lot of questions. Whether that’s good for the Democrat narrative remains to be seen.
