Sean Hannity echoed President Trump’s reaction to testimony from Ambassador Gordon Sondland and declared the Democrats’ impeachment show trial is “over.”

The Fox News host told listeners on his radio program, “The Sean Hannity Show,” that Sondland’s House impeachment testimony on Wednesday essentially cleared the president of any wrongdoing in the controversy sparked by Trump’s July phone call with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky.

“It is over!” Hannity declared at the opening of his show. “It is done! This is the end of this!”

He told listeners that “this couldn’t be a better day for President Trump” Wednesday following the day’s impeachment hearings which left the mainstream media leaping to conclude that Sondland confirmed that Trump did exactly what Democrats claim he did with Ukraine, allegedly holding up U.S. military aid in exchange for their agreement to launch an investigation of former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.

“I mean it was, it just couldn’t go any better,” Hannity said, noting that the U.S. Ambassador to the European Union differed from the week’s previous witnesses in that he actually spoke with the president directly instead of testifying with hearsay information.

“Let the Democrats impeach all they want,” Hannity said. “None of the hearsay, none of the interpretations matter. And Sondland blew it out of the water, because he is now the greatest fact witness for the President of the United States because he’s the only one that actually talked to him.”

Hannity recounted Sondland’s testimony explaining that Trump told him he didn’t want anything from Zelensky and “when asked an open-ended question what do you want from the Ukrainian leader, the new president – nothing. I don’t want a quid pro quo. I want him to get rid of corruption like he ran on.”

Trump told reporters outside of the White House Wednesday that the EU ambassador’s remarks made it clear the impeachment circus was “all over” for Democrats.

“This is not a man I know well,” the president said of the EU ambassador. “He seems like a nice guy, though.”

And when asked what he wanted from Ukraine by Sondland, the president quoted himself saying: “I want nothing. I want nothing. I want no quid pro quo. Tell Zelensky to do the right thing.”

Hannity’s impression of Sondland’s testimony backed up that of the president despite what the left-leaning media was reporting after Wednesday’s hearing. Pundits on CNN and MSNBC basically declared it was “game over” for Trump following the ambassador’s confirmation that there was some form of bribery in the president’s dealings with Ukraine.

“Was there a quid pro quo?…The answer is yes,” Sondland said in his opening statement before the House panel Wednesday.

Even over on Fox News, former solicitor general Ken Starr said articles of impeachment would be forthcoming following what seemed like damaging testimony from Sondland who was called out by Republican lawmakers during the hearing for his “made-up testimony.”

Republican Counsel Steve Castor called out Sondland for not having notes to back up his claims and for his trouble remembering some things, calling the ambassador’s testimony “the trifecta of unreliability.”
