A Facebook live video by an independent journalist captured a Hong Kong police officer shooting a protester in the midsection on Sunday as he came to the aid of another activist who had just been apprehended.

Six months into the Hong Kong protest activities, violence is escalating between police and activists in the streets.
Another video in a completely different incident showed a man who was engaged in an argument with protesters, being doused with an accelerant and set on fire. He was reportedly saying that “we are all Chinese,” before having gasoline thrown on him and ignited. Other translations indicate he said, “you are not Chinese.”

The man was able to retreat and rip off his burning shirt before collapsing with severe burns. The Daily Mail reported he is hospitalized and critically injured.
Another tweeted video showed a young man after being shot by police:

The masked protester who was shot at point-blank range is in critical condition and was undergoing surgery, according to the Daily Mail.
Calls for an “indefinite strike” are being reported following the shooting.
Rules of engagement for authorities are apparently being relaxed to allow for the free use of firearms and live ammunition against civilian demonstrators. Rather than quelling the situation, emotions are subsequently being ramped up due to the authoritarian brutality being used against Hong Kong’s freedom fighters.

It appears that Hong Kong police are aggressively going after protesters. Watch as a motorcycle cop tries to run them over:
Video by the Daily Mail
There is imminent danger of the situation in Hong Kong going totally out of control now, with Hong Kong chief executive Carrie Lam referring to protesters as “the people’s enemy.”
“The violence prompted further anger today but Hong Kong’s embattled leader Carrie Lam said the violence had gone far beyond calls for democracy and said the protesters were now the people’s enemy,” according to the Mail.
“I do not want to go into details, but I just want to make it very clear that we will spare no effort in finding ways and means that could end the violence in Hong Kong as soon as possible,” Lam told reporters.
Speculation is rampant that even “harsher legal and police measures may be in the works to curb the protests,” the AP wrote.
Emotions had already been stoked in the city this weekend after a university student died falling from a parking garage on Friday when police fired tear gas at protesters.
According to the AP …
The territory is preparing for Nov. 24 district council elections that are viewed as a measure of public sentiment toward the government.
Pro-democracy lawmakers accuse the government of trying to provoke violence to justify canceling or postponing the elections.
