Former U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions is running for Senate again in 2020. Despite his rocky relationship with President Trump, Sessions said he supports the president 100% and will do all he can to promote the Trump agenda in Congress.
“When I left President Trump’s Cabinet, did I write a tell-all book? No,” Sessions said. “Did I go on CNN and attack the president? No. Have I said a cross word about our president? Not one time.”
Sessions explained: “I will tell you why. First, that would be dishonorable. I was there to serve his agenda — not mine. Second, the president is doing a great job — for America and Alabama. And he has my strong support.”

In November 2018, Sessions resigned as AG under heavy pressure from Trump amid ongoing attacks by the president for recusing himself from the Russia collusion hoax.
Trump blamed Sessions for the two-year sham Russia investigation because his recusal led to the hiring of special counsel Robert Mueller — the former FBI director under Barack Obama who’s a close friend of James Comey (another former Obama FBI director).
Jeff Sessions was a senator from Alabama from 1997 to 2017. He left that post when President Trump appointed him U.S. Attorney General in February 2017. In fact, Sessions was one of Trump’s very first appointments.
Sessions was well-liked in the Senate throughout his career. In 2016, Sessions became the first senator to endorse then-candidate Donald Trump as president at a time when the Washington political establishment thought Trump had no chance of winning.
Trump and Sessions had an amicable relationship until Sessions recused himself from the Russia collusion investigation in March 2017 — a month after Trump appointed him Attorney General.
Even though Robert Mueller eventually concluded that there was no evidence of collusion, President Trump is still furious that he had to endure that inane investigation for almost three years.
Now, Sessions wants his old Senate seat back, and he has an excellent chance to win because he’s extremely popular in his home state.
Sessions released a campaign ad yesterday, where he underscored that he will back Trump 100% if elected to the Senate again.
Tucker Carlson asked Sessions if he regrets recusing himself from the Russia probe.
Sessions replied: “No. The senior advisers told me that this is what the rules required. But I know how painful it was for the president. But painful and prolonged as it was, it did clear him of Russian collusion, and I’m certainly glad that that finally happened.”
Interestingly, Sessions’ policy positions mirror that of President Trump on every key issue — like illegal immigration.
“I was for his agenda before President Trump announced, and I supported it when he was president, and when he was running for president,” Sessions underscored. “And if I return to the Senate, no senator will be more for advancing Trump’s agenda than I will be.”
When Tucker Carlson asked what Sessions thought about the Democrats’ botched impeachment inquiry, he said they don’t have a legitimate case.
“I cannot see an impeachment case here. It has been a continuous attack from Day One. The president has conducted himself within the law, and I don’t believe that there is anything close to an impeachment case.”
When Sessions recused himself from the Russia collusion investigation, many Trump supporters turned against him.
In May 2018, Fox News host Judge Jeanine Pirro called Sessions the “most dangerous man in America” because she claimed that he refused to stamp out the corruption festering at the highest levels of the DOJ and the FBI.

The upper levels of the DOJ, FBI, and CIA still employs numerous Trump-hating Obama holdovers like Bruce Ohr.
“The single most dangerous person to the agenda of President Trump, the Republican Party, and ultimately all Americans, is the Attorney General of the United States himself, Jeff Sessions,” Pirro said in May 2018. “The man has done nothing to make anyone responsible for the blatant corruption, the unmistakable perjury, the in-your-face obstruction of our laws that we’ve seen play out every day.”
At the time, Judge Jeanine was furious that Sessions — who as Attorney General oversaw the Department of Justice and the FBI — refused to release documents related to the Obama FBI’s secret investigation of the 2016 Trump campaign.
