‘Nobody feels sorry for you’: Meghan Markle’s self-pity draws no tears from Wendy Williams

Wendy Williams is not feeling very sympathetic toward Meghan Markle, who appears to be having a tough go at the life of a princess… well, duchess, to be exact.

“Meghan, nobody feels sorry for you,” Williams said Tuesday on her show. “You knew what you were signing up for girl!”

In an emotional interview featured in the ITV documentary “Harry & Meghan: An African Journey,” the Duchess of Sussex admitted it has not been easy adjusting to life as a member of the royal family after wedding Prince Harry.

“When I first met Harry, my friends were so excited. My U.S. friends were happy because I was happy,” she said. “But my British friends, they were sure he was lovely, but they said I shouldn’t do it because ‘The British tabloids will destroy your life.’ I just didn’t get it.”

“Yes you did. You knew exactly what you were doing,” Williams said. “And I applaud her plot-ation on the royal situation. But please, don’t try to garner sympathy from us. You knew what you were doing.”

Speaking directly to Markle, she told her that her friend is a hater and that she needs to drop the person… that is, Williams added, assuming that the duchess is telling the truth.

“Or Meghan’s lying to try and get sympathy, for us to give her sympathy, if someone, in fact, told [her] that,” Williams said.

Pointing out that Harry is not in line for the throne, Williams said the royal couple could move to the U.S. to escape the British tabloids if they’re that bad — the irony here being that Markle once intimated that if Donald Trump was elected president, she may leave the U.S. and move to Canada.

“Harry and Meghan have nothing to lose by moving to America. Why not? Move to America and live part-time in Africa like you want to do. You have to still go back to England. Have a place in all three places,” she suggested. “Have a mansion in Malibu, a big hut — I’ve never been to Africa, I don’t know — a big hotel or wherever you’re gonna live in Africa and then have your royal palace place in England.”

“I like them, but her, there’s something about her, you know what I’m saying?” Williams continued, drawing groans from the studio audience. “And you know what girl, Meghan, Meghan don’t be surprised that the paparazzi are everywhere. Of course, because you’re now a royal. They weren’t following you when you were on ‘Suits,’ we didn’t even know who you were except when you came for employment here at Wendy and wanted to be one of our runway models.”

One thing is certain, the decidedly liberal duchess appears to be quite comfortable in the role of victim, as seen in her comments in that same interview about dealing with the media while pregnant and as a new mother.

A response that came close to drawing tears.

“Any woman, especially when they’re pregnant, you’re really vulnerable, and so that was made really challenging,” Markle said. “And then when you have a newborn, you know. And especially as a woman, it’s a lot. So you add this on top of just trying to be a new mom or trying to be a newlywed. It’s um… yeah. I guess, also thank you for asking because not many people have asked if I’m okay, but it’s a very real thing to be going through behind the scenes.”
