President Trump wants to meet the “whistleblower” who filed a complaint against him over an allegedly improper phone conversation between him and the president of Ukraine.
Trump tweeted Sunday that he deserved to meet with his “accuser” who characterized the phone call in a “totally inaccurate and fraudulent way,” accusing the president of pressuring Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky into investigating former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden’s business dealings in the country.
Like every American, I deserve to meet my accuser, especially when this accuser, the so-called “Whistleblower,” represented a perfect conversation with a foreign leader in a totally inaccurate and fraudulent way. Then Schiff made up what I actually said by lying to Congress……

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, who was also targeted by Trump in his tweets, announced on Sunday that the whistleblower has agreed to testify before the committee and would be doing so “very soon.” The complaint gave fuel to Democrats in their pursuit of taking down the president and led to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s announcement last week of a formal impeachment inquiry.
Trump blasted Schiff for his much-criticized theatrics at a House Intelligence Committee hearing last week as he fabricated a conversation between Trump and the Ukraine leader rather than directly read the released transcript of the call.
“I want Schiff questioned at the highest level for Fraud & Treason,” Trump tweeted Sunday, blasting the Democrat for the “blatant and sinister” way he presented his lies to Congress.
His lies were made in perhaps the most blatant and sinister manner ever seen in the great Chamber. He wrote down and read terrible things, then said it was from the mouth of the President of the United States. I want Schiff questioned at the highest level for Fraud & Treason…..

The president also noted that his “accuser” got the information about the call through “SECOND & THIRD HAND INFORMATION,” and said he also wanted to meet with whoever “illegally” gave the information.
“Was this person SPYING on the U.S. President? Big Consequences!” he tweeted.

An intelligence whistleblower has protection under the Intelligence Community Whistleblower Protection Act, passed by Congress in 1998. Employees are protected, so long as they follow protocol, when reporting misconduct and guaranteed that classified information is not exposed.
According to The Washington Post:
A whistleblower is a person who exposes information or activities that are unlawful, unethical or in violation of a company’s policy. Federal whistleblower protection laws and most states’ laws make it illegal to retaliate against an employee who reports employer violations or misconduct.
Intelligence whistleblowers face additional hurdles and more severe consequences — not only termination of employment but also the threat of criminal prosecution — because of the confidential nature of information that their concerns could include.
CBS News’ 60 Minutes reported Sunday that the whistleblower is now under federal protection over fears for the person’s safety.
During a segment of “The Five” last week, Fox News contributor Katie Pavlich questioned who was behind the writing of the complaint.
“It’s very tactical in what was said and what was laid out,” she said. “This is not just an email that someone sent as a ‘Hey, I have information, I need to meet with you.’ It’s very clearly written by a lawyer or a team of lawyers and possibly a research team,” she suggested, as Rivera agreed, saying it was likely a “big law firm.”
Guest co-host Geraldo Rivera agreed, suggesting that “a group like Media Matters” was behind the complaint.
Ahead of the release of the phone call transcript, it was revealed that the Inspector General found that the whistleblower had “political bias” in favor of a rival candidate of Trump’s.
