Pastor Robert Jeffress angrily told the hosts and viewers of “Fox & Friends” on Sunday: “If the Democrats are successful in removing the president from office, I’m afraid it will cause a civil war-like fracture in this nation from which this country will never heal.”

President Trump later tweeted out the pastor’s warning, resulting in a rebuke from a reputedly Republican congressman from Illinois, Adam Kinzinger, who posted to Twitter: “I have never imagined such a quote to be repeated by a President. This is beyond repugnant.”

For the record, Kinzinger has always been an anti-Trumper and his congressional record as a conservative is spotty at best, according to govtrack.us.

“Democrats don’t care if they burn down and destroy this nation in the process,” Pastor Jeffress said of the left’s impeachment efforts. “Look, I don’t pretend to speak for all evangelicals, but this week I have been traveling the country, and I’ve literally spoken to thousands and thousands of evangelical Christians.

“I have never seen them more angry over any issue than this attempt to illegitimately remove this president from office, overturn the 2016 election, and negate the votes of millions of evangelicals in the process. And they know that the only impeachable offense President Trump has committed was beating Hillary Clinton in 2016. That’s the unpardonable sin for which the Democrats will never forgive him.

“I do want to make this prediction this morning,” Jeffress said. “If the Democrats are successful in removing the President from office, I’m afraid it will cause a civil war-like fracture in this nation from which this country will never heal.”

Ed Henry brought up Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s Saturday comments about being prayerful regarding impeachment, asking, “Can we take that seriously when some members of her caucus, day one of the new Congress, said let’s impeach the blankety blank? They seemed pretty happy about it.”

“Oh, they are thrilled,” the pastor replied. “They cannot contain their glee over this. I’ve been asked the question, ‘What should we, as Christians, do?’

“I think we ought to pray too, but we ought to do more than just pray, we ought to take action. And that means calling our representatives and urging them to stand with this president. Daniel 11:32 says the people who know their God shall stand firm and take action. It’s time to take action.”

The President’s tweets regarding Jeffress’ warning and Katzinger’s self righteous response went viral, with supporters from both sides of the battlefront lobbing their responses back and forth …

The “civil war” argument for caution is far from being in the imagination of a handful of doomsayers. Rush Limbaugh on Friday told his radio audience, “What we are in the middle of now, folks, is a Cold Civil War.”

Limbaugh spoke at length about the ongoing, destructively irresponsible actions of Democrats and their supporters in the media to take down the President. He called the whistleblower complaint “a sham” and said the left’s goals are to overturn “the election results of 2016” and “protecting and defending the Washington establishment.”

“Their careers, their fortunes, their corruption,” Limbaugh continued. “There are terribly big stakes involved here for these people. And Trump is on the cusp of overturning it and exposing it.”
