Aide Stephen Miller: Whistleblower part of ‘partisan hit-job’

White House senior policy adviser Stephen Miller slammed the complaint against President Trump filed by a  whistleblower as a “little Nancy Drew novel.”

Miller called out the “partisan hit job” during an often heated interview on “Fox News Sunday,” telling host Chris Wallace that it is, in fact, the president who is the real “whistleblower.”

“I think it’s unfortunate that the media continues to describe this individual as a whistleblower, an honorific that this individual most certainly does not deserve,” Miller asserted. “A partisan hit job does not make you a whistle-blower just because you do it through the Whistleblower Protection Act.”

Wallace immediately pushed back, asking the White House aide how he could be so sure of his criticism of the complaint, which alleged Trump pressured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a July phone call to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son’s work in Ukraine.

In testimony before Congress last week, Acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire said he believed the whistle-blower acted “by the book” and the report was done in “good faith.”

“If you read the seven-page little Nancy Drew novel that the whistle-blower put together, it drips with condescension, righteous indignation and contempt for the president. It’s also ludicrous on its face,” Miller countered, noting that the Inspector General had found that the whistleblower had a “political bias” in favor of a rival candidate of Trump’s.

Wallace argued that the IG had found the report “credible and a matter of urgent concern.”

“And they’re wrong, Chris,” Miller responded.

“I’ve worked in the federal government now for nearly three years. I know what the deep state looks like,” he continued. “I know the difference between a whistleblower and a deep state operative. This is a deep state operative, pure and simple.”

“People who haven’t been in the federal government, who haven’t worked in the White House, may not appreciate this,” he continued, explaining how “unelected bureaucrats” operate in their attempts to take down the president.

Wallace attempted to move on, announcing “enough with the rhetoric” before questioning Miller about why Trump used his personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, to “dig up dirt” on Biden.

The transcript of the phone call with Zelensky showed that Trump asked the newly elected leader to “look into” the Bidens. There is no quid pro quo as Democrats alleged, as the transcript never reveals Trump linking his request to millions of dollars of U.S. aid which had been frozen days earlier.

“The president has got the State Department, he’s got the CIA, he’s got the Pentagon he’s got a number of other agencies, why did he use three private lawyers to get information on Biden?” Wallace asked as the interview became more tense.

As Miller attempted to make a point several times, the Fox News host repeatedly interrupted, confronting him about answering “a direct question,” and eventually calling the replies an “exercise in obfuscation.”

Miller said he found it “astonishing” that people who “are so enraged” by the attempt to find any corruption in dealing with Ukraine are “the same ones who’ve been using the foreign produced dossier by a British spy” to investigate Trump.

“For reasons I cannot fathom, the media – which is ordinarily interested in sunshine and transparency above all else – is remarkably un-curious about the information Ukraine possesses about the corruption of the previous administration,” Miller said. as Wallace continued to press him for direct answers to his inquiries.

“There’s a tone of judgment in all of your questions, so yes, you are admonishing,” he finally shot back, addressing the obvious hypocrisy in criticism of the president for attempting to uncover corruption while being accused of corruption himself for doing his job.

Wallace falsely claimed Trump called the whistleblower a “spy,’ and Miller quickly corrected him to note that the president actually said the individual’s actions make him “close to a spy.”

“The president of the United States is the whistleblower,” Miller declared.  “And this individual is a saboteur trying to undermine a democratically elected government.”
