President Trump’s phone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky included a brief mention of the American cybersecurity company CrowdStrike and a request for help investigating a “server.”
The transcript of the July phone call between the two leaders was released by the White House Wednesday and raised eyebrows about the president’s reference to the company that investigated the Russian hack of Democratic National Committee computers in 2016.
Trump asked Zelensky if he could “get to the bottom of it,” in the brief remark about the company whose probe uncovered embarrassing revelations about then-candidate Hillary Clinton.
Clinton doubled down on her support for impeaching Trump following the release of the transcript of his call with the leader of Ukraine.
“I support impeachment,” the failed 2016 Democratic presidential nominee tweeted Wednesday after calling the president of the United States a “clear and present danger.”
No telling if Clinton’s outburst was in direct response to the transcript which, besides plainly showing there was no quid pro quo as Democrats have been alleging, also brought up the hacking of the Democratic National Committee’s server in 2016.
The president of the United States has betrayed our country.
That’s not a political statement—it’s a harsh reality, and we must act.
He is a clear and present danger to the things that keep us strong and free.
I support impeachment.

The transcript revealed that the newly elected Ukrainian leader discussed with Trump his administration’s plan to be transparent and to confront corruption. He also assured Trump he would do all he can to help investigate issues he had brought up.
Trump reminded the leader that “we do a lot for Ukraine,” more so than some of the European countries. But he noted that this had not been reciprocated.

“I wouldn’t say that it’s reciprocal necessarily because things are happening that are not good but the United States has been very very good to Ukraine,” Trump said.
“Yes you are absolutely right,” Zalensky agreed, noting that the U.S. is a “much bigger partner than the European Union” before thanking the president for support n the area of defense.
Despite all the drama Democrats caused over alleged corruption by Trump during the call, the only “favor” he asked of Zelensky had to do with information about the “server” and CrowdStrike.
“I would like you to do us a favor though because our country has been through a lot and Ukraine knows a lot about it. I would like you to find out what happened with this whole situation with Ukraine, they say Crowdstrike… I guess you have one of your wealthy people… The server, they say Ukraine has it,” Trump said.
“There are a lot of things that went on, the whole situation. I think you’re surrounding yourself with some of the same people,” Trump continued, adding that he would like to have Attorney General William Barr “call you or your people” and “I would like you to get to the bottom of it.”
“Whatever you can do, it’s very important that you do it if that’s possible, the president said.
Zelensky agreed, reiterating again his administration’s plan to have great relations with the U.S., noting the replacement of the ambassador as one of the steps he was taking to ensure the strengthening of the “strategic partnership” with the U.S.
The released transcript brought a new wave of attention to the cybersecurity company based in Sunnyvale, California, which was chosen by the DNC to investigate the hack rather than the FBI.
uhmmm. Crowdstrike. now where have I heard that name? On yes, DNC used them to investigate their computer hacking deal. They wouldn’t let the FBI do it. https://t.co/cRTdiBGr3K

“With regards to our investigation of the DNC hack in 2016, we provided all forensic evidence and analysis to the FBI. As we’ve stated before, we stand by our findings and conclusions that have been fully supported by the US intelligence community,” Ilina Cashiola, a spokesperson for the company said Wednesday, according to The Washington Post.
Clinton’s tweet Wednesday following the release of the transcript reiterated her belief that the U.S. is in a “crisis” thanks to Trump.
“I’m in favor of moving toward impeachment,” Clinton told People magazine. “I did not come to that decision easily or quickly, but this is an emergency as I see it.”

Twitter users reacted to the president’s discussion of the server with the Ukrainian leader and to Clinton’s “harsh reality” warning.
The best part of this is after all these years Trump is still just trying to find Hillary’s emails

Nobody should ever say again he’s not interested in getting to the bottom of 2016 election interference. He’s working harder than anybody on it.

So President Trump is asking Ukraine to find a server. That server could belong to either CROWDSTRIKE or to the DNC.
Recall that CROWDSTRIKE was the firm hired by the DNC to look at its server for hacks – rather than the FBI. https://t.co/E6naJmIovZ
