Thanks to his legally owned semi-automatic rifle, a Georgia homeowner was able to stop three underage masked robbers from taking his and his neighbors’ possessions, and perhaps even their lives.
“The masked teens — a 15-year-old and two 16-year-olds — approached three residents around 4 a.m. Monday at the front yard of a home just outside Conyers and tried to rob them,” CNN reported Tuesday. “One of the would-be robbers took out a gun and fired shots at them before one of the residents returned fire.”
As a result, the would-be “victims of the attempted robbery were all uninjured,” the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office reportedly said in a news release.
“[B]ut the three attempted robbery suspects were all shot during the exchange of gunfire and succumbed to their injuries, one on scene and two at a local hospital after being transported.”

Not much is known about the homeowner, save for the fact that he’s “a nice, caring dude,” according to a neighbor who spoke with WSB, and the fact that he owns a semi-automatic (which, to be clear, isn’t the same thing as an automatic weapon like a machine gun).
“Neighbors say he’s a truck driver who owns a semi-automatic rifle and is highly protective of his mother,” WSB reported. “No charges have been filed against anyone at this time.”
He’s also allegedly a murderer, according to some.
In its original report, CNN portrayed the teens as victims.
“The three victims, one 15-year-old and two 16-year-olds, were all from the area but did not live in the specific neighborhood they were in,” the outlet originally reported early Tuesday morning.

This attitude has also permeated the brains of some local teens who kvetched to WSB that the three would-be robbers and potential killers didn’t deserve to be shot.
“He didn’t have to kill them!” one complained.
“That’s not how it’s supposed to go,” another added. “I understand one shot to stop the people, the victims or whatever. But aggressively to shoot these little teens, that’s an overkill. That’s too much to handle.”
What the youth said about “the victims or whatever” seems to speak to this growing, media-led backward phenomenon of perpetrators being treated as victims, and victims being maligned as perpetrators.
What’s not so clear is how the left, including the media, plan to respond to the fact that the homeowner and his neighbors may very well be alive today because of his semi-automatic.
This is an important point to consider because the current crop of Democrat presidential candidates have vowed to ban and even confiscate all semi-automatic weapons.
“I am [proposing confiscation] if it’s a weapon that was designed to kill people on a battlefield,” candidate Beto O’Rourke roared in excitement during the latest Democrat primary debate last week.
“When we see that being used against children, and in Odessa, I met the mother of a 15-year-old girl who was shot by an AR-15, and that mother watched her bleed to death over the course of an hour because so many other people were shot by that AR-15. In Odessa and Midland, there weren’t enough ambulances to get to them in time. Hell, yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47.”

While it’s not clear what weapon specifically that the homeowner in Georgia had used to defend his life and property, the chances are high that it was an AR-15. Like the National Rifle Association has noted in times past, the AR-15 is the “most popular rifle in America.”
However, because the AR-15 has also been used in several mass shootings, Democrats and their media allies have been hellbent on banning its sale and possession in the United States.
Leading Democrat candidate former Vice President Joe Biden has also jumped on the bandwagon. Speaking earlier this month in Texas, he proposed banning magazines that hold more than one bullet.
“The idea that we don’t have elimination of assault-type weapons, magazines that can hold multiple bullets in them, it’s absolutely mindless,” he said. “It’s no violation of the Second Amendment. It’s just a bow of special interests of the gun manufacturers and the NRA.”

“Most modern-day firearms have magazines that hold more than one bullet, with a standard magazine for an AR-15 holding 30 rounds,” the Washington Examiner notes.
Such a ban would, therefore, render the AR-15 useless, thus leaving the homeowner in Georgia at the mercy of criminals. Had the ban already been in effect when the attempted robbery occurred, the homeowner and his neighbors would have been completely out of luck.
As of Wednesday morning, nobody in the Democrat Party had yet commented on what occurred in Georgia. Given that the events that played out there go against the left’s narrative, it’s not likely that any 2020 contenders, including O’Rourke and Biden, will ever speak on it.
