Joy Reid gets in Trump’s line of fire after she mocked his ‘smoking hot beauty tips’

It took a couple of years to finally happen, but MSNBC host Joy Reid has finally piqued the attention of President Donald Trump.

After spending years trashing President Donald Trump and spinning bizarre conspiracy theories about him and his administration, Reid took one step too far Friday night.

How? While it’s unclear, reports say that she called him a “desperate man” and mocked him over a speech he’d delivered at the 2019 House Republican Conference Member Retreat Dinner this Thursday evening in Baltimore, Maryland.

In response, Trump fired back with a devastatingly brutal tweet Saturday morning describing Reid as a veritable nobody who has “NO talent.”

“Who the hell is Joy-Ann Reid?” he wrote. “Never met her, she knows ZERO about me, has NO talent, and truly doesn’t have the ‘it’ factor needed for success in showbiz.”

“Had a bad reputation, and now works for the Comcast/NBC losers making up phony stories about me. Low Ratings. Fake News!”

Ratings fact-check: TRUE.

According to Nielsen data pertaining to last week’s ratings, total prime time viewers for MSNBC was down by 31 percent while total day viewers were down by 27 percent in comparison to the ratings seen during the same week in 2018.

Regarding what specifically provoked Trump’s reaction, some believe it’d been what Reid had said about Trump’s speech in Boston.

While filling in for fellow MSNBC host Chris Hayes late Friday, she reportedly said that the president had sounded “like a desperate man.”

She’d been referencing the moment during the speech that the president had warned that a Democrat victory in 2020 would take America to hell.

“Whether you like me not, it makes no difference, because our country will go to hell if any of these people get in,” he’d said. “It’ll go to hell. You know, I was joking but I’m really not joking. You have no choice.”

Reid also mocked Trump for accidentally referring to Vice President Mike Pence as “Mike Pounce.” In fairness to Reid, however, social media users also mocked the president for that:

Last but not least, the MSNBC host mocked Trump for going on “to treat the gathered Republicans to some smoking hot beauty tips.”

It’d been a reference to his remarks about energy-efficient light bulbs. As a joke, the president had said that energy-efficient bulbs make him look orange.

“[T]he bulb that we’re being forced to use — number one, to me, most importantly, the light is no good. I always look orange. And so do you,” he joked while speaking about being forced to use energy-efficient bulbs because of regulations enacted by the Obama administration.

“The light is the worst. But number two, it’s many times more expensive than that old incandescent bulb that worked very well. And very importantly — I don’t know if you know this — they have warnings. If it breaks, it’s considered a hazardous waste site. Its gasses inside.”

He added that going forward, consumers will be allowed to choose for themselves which light bulbs they prefer — traditional incandescent bulbs or modern energy-efficient ones.

While Reid had not yet responded to Trump’s tweet as of Saturday afternoon, it’s expected that her response will involve accusations of racism, as she has a history of race-baiting and grievance-mongering.
