‘Fueled-by-rage’ Sean Penn: No ‘chance in hell’ Trump re-elected

“Fast Times at Ridgemont High” star Sean Penn has again blasted President Trump, this time on stage at a California event where he declared there is “no chance in hell” Trump will get re-elected.

The filmmaker predicted an “exponential jump” in the number of younger voters who will not support a second term for the president, speaking with fellow actor Nick Offerman in Los Angeles, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Penn was on hand to promote his new novel “Bob Honey Sings Jimmy Crack Corn,” when he reportedly made the remarks on stage at the Los Angeles event Saturday. His book, a follow-up to 2018’s “Bob Honey Who Just Do Stufff,” is “literature of the ludicrous,” according to the Oscar-winning star of “Mystic River” and “Milk,” and tells the story of an international assassin.

“As it turns out, leading up to the election of 2016, I was going to f**king kill myself if I didn’t find a way out of just focusing on what the hell was happening,” Penn told Offerman. “So I decided to take everything I thought and felt and exaggerated it and exaggerated the language in ways that would keep me giggling through one of the ugliest periods of conscious participation the country has ever had.”

The 49-year old actor unloaded on Trump with his political commentary, noting that he tackles his writing in the den of his house which “has a fireplace in it, and might or might not have a model representing our current president hanging from a noose. And it may or may not have a button on that model where you can press it and hear quotations in his voice. And that’s where I write.”

Penn predicted a revolution of sorts with 18- to 20-year-olds rising up and preventing a Trump re-election victory.

“I don’t think there’s a chance in hell that Donald Trump is going to win the presidency next time and that’s because I’m getting a sense that it’s going be an exponential jump in young people who are going to say, ‘No thanks,'” he said.

Admitting he is “fueled by rage,” Penn also spoke about how “there’s nothing I want to do more than just keep writing.”

“If there’s a director with a great script, who I love the director and it’s great material and they want to pay me and it shoots somewhere I want to be, I’m great for two days of work. I can still enjoy acting in that situation,” he explained, but pointed to the poor reviews of his first book that spurred him into writing another.

“All of these pig-shit, a**hole, envious [critics] who wrote their own autobiography in the criticism of what I did, and reading between the lines, it was the greatest affirmation of anything I’ve ever done,” Penn said. “They definitely, for a large degree, are responsible for me not continuing the laziness from the first book for so long, and definitely, definitely once I read those things I said, ‘I’m writing another one.’”

The actor has not held back in his dislike of Trump and used his writing skills in a 2018 op-ed for Time in which he blasted the president as an “enemy of Americans, Republicans, Democrats, Independents and every new child born. An enemy of mankind … an enemy of the state.”

In the 2016 presidential race, Penn said he would be backing Hillary Clinton and slammed Trump’s campaign as “an opportunity for one man to have a group celebration of his own narcissism.”

That was the same year the left-wing actor held a secret interview with notorious Mexican drug lord, Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, which many said led to his arrest.

Penn’s on-stage rant over the weekend in his continuing attacks on Trump earned him plenty of backlash on Twitter:
