New York City Police Officers were again targeted by bystanders in the middle of responding to an emergency.
Video footage from the scene of a Bronx apartment fire, where police were working with others to help clear the building, showed an open gallon of milk being thrown at an officer while the rowdy crowd off-camera appeared to cheer.

Just weeks after the now-viral videos showing disrespectful water bucket attacks on New York police, the Bronx assault was seen in a video that surfaced Thursday.
“Ha! They got milked on!” someone can be heard shouting in the video.
The New York Post reported that the cellphone video of the incident “was posted on Instagram with a caption that read ‘F— the [police emoji].'”
“It is becoming impossible for police officers to do our job, even in emergency situations,” Police Benevolent Association president Patrick J. Lynch said in a statement Thursday, blaming city leaders for creating a “cop-hating” environment.
“At a fire scene, our role is to clear the area so that firefighters can contain the fire and prevent loss of life. This crowd didn’t care: They wanted to fight the cops who were there to help,” Lynch said.
The 2-alarm fire left seven people injured, including two police officers and an FDNY member, as officers worked to control the scene and get people out of the Bronx building, the New York Post reported. Four residents of the building were also injured and 17 families were displaced by the blaze.
A crowd forming outside of the building began to get rowdy, however, according to police and the person responsible for the attack appeared to be urged on by the crowd, as can be overheard in the video.
The milk container was hurled at the officer who ducked to avoid getting hit in the head but was still splattered by the milk. But the officer stayed put, doing his job while staring back at the camera, covered with milk. Other officers reportedly chased the culprit but were unable to catch him and were not sure if he was a resident of the building.

Police dealt with other incidents as well, according to the New York Post:
Four residents were injured in the fire, according to officials. Seventeen families were displaced and several people were arrested while voicing their outrage, cops said.
One woman attacked an officer and ripped off his body camera, resulting in charges. Two others were taken in for disorderly conduct. Nobody was seriously hurt.
In another story, a building resident told the New York Post that milk was on hand to deal with pepper spray that police had used on the crowd, though that was not yet confirmed by the NYPD.
“People got mad …They said they were trying to get back into the building,” the resident told the Post.
“That guy isn’t from this building I would have recognized him,” another resident said of the milk-throwing man.
New York City’s Democrat Mayor Bill de Blasio took a moment from his whirlwind 2020 presidential campaign tour to call the suspect a “coward.”

Lynch warned city officials to “wake up” and stop encouraging the attacks on police officers.
“Thankfully everybody made it out this time,” Lynch said, “but our city leaders need to wake up. If they keep encouraging cop-hatred and interference with our duties, lives will be lost because we were prevented from doing our job.”
As in the water attacks on police in recent weeks, Twitter users were disgusted and hoped the suspect would quickly be caught.
