Far-left actress Debra Messing just keeps stepping in it. Her latest boneheaded blunder that’s going to leave a mark on her portfolio is a trending Twitter hashtag, “Racist Debra Messing” in response to her retweet of an offensive Alabama church sign that read: “A black vote or Trump is mental illness.”
Just a day earlier, she had stupidly called for Hollywood to blacklist conservatives, causing even her liberal peers to berate her for her thoughtless desire to return to the dark days of McCarthyism in Tinseltown.
When you’re hot, you’re hot.
#racistdebramessing is now trending in United Stateshttps://t.co/hfhNCmZQw3 pic.twitter.com/bEPwPQPBJ7

Her retweet and praise for a ‘black vote’ sign deemed racist by many was reportedly taken from a church in Texas and quickly drove a number of people to reply in anger before and after she deleted it.

A white celebrity on the left @DebraMessing is basically telling black people how to think. Seems like a form of intellectual slavery to me. Liberal policies have hurt black communities around the country and these same people are silent. #RealTalk pic.twitter.com/rRtIOyPcHb

The man himself, President Trump, got in on the action and retweeted Williams’ post that carried the hashtag (mind you, the tag was already trending):

In a strange, attempted “apology,” Messing, in fact, tried to redirect blame to “Trump’s GOP.” She wrote: “I apologized for liking that church sign. I said I regret it. I shud [sic] have thought before recklessly suppprting. You won’t accept this but black people are targeted by Trump’s GOP for voter supression. Charlottesville was about Trump supporters hating POC and Jews.”
NUMBER 1– I apologized for liking that church sign. I said I regret it. I shud have thought before recklessly suppprting. You won’t accept this but black people are targeted by Trump’s GOP for voter supression. Charlottesville was about Trump supporters hating POC and Jews. https://t.co/K0ch9YOQ8F

She continued on in a series of tweets, drifting into the blacklisting controversy …
THAT is where my support of a sign at a southern black church came from. The use of the term “mentally ill” was wrong & hurtful. NUMBER 2 I NEVER NOR WOULD I EVER call for a blacklist of anyone for any reason. The info is publicly available. I as a consumer want to know where MY

Money is going when I pay for entertainment. Just as you have the right to not watch W&G bc I don’t support Trump, I have the right to not go see (pay for) a movie with someone supporting babies in cages. It is First Amendment. Information, Knowledge. That is how we make decisions

Whether to see a movie or whom to vote for. Transparency is needed. Again, the lists are available to the public. There is nothing threatening about asking politely for information.

Candace Owens tweeted a reply to the Messing “apology”: “Please stop telling black people what we are ‘targeted by’ to satisfy your ‘white savior’ complex. The fact that you can’t accept that black people support Trump is evidence that you hold a racist viewpoint of black Americans as a monolith, proprietary to the Democrat Party.”

Think she’ll learn? It might take few more hideous P.R. disasters, but at the very least, we can hope someone soon will convince Messing to shut down her Twitter account.
