**Update Aug. 28: Kirsten Gillibrand dropped out of the race.
Former top aides and friends of Democratic Senator Kirsten Gillibrand are urging her to quit her failed presidential run. They worry that Gillibrand might lose her New York senate seat after alienating voters with her “obnoxious” and “opportunistic” personality.
“Most people that I talk to are very happy with her as their senator and don’t want her to give up her Senate seat and don’t see any realistic traction for her,” a longtime Gillibrand fundraiser told the New York Post. “It would be best if she decided that this was not her time.”
A former top aide says Gillibrand doesn’t realize how annoying she came off at the debates. Her unlikeability is a key reason why she’s polling at zero percent. Right now, Gillibrand is struggling to make the stage for the next primary debate.
“I don’t know that anyone even wants to see her on the debate stage,” said the former top staffer in Gillibrand’s Senate office. “Everyone I have talked to finds her performative and obnoxious. She comes across as an opportunist to the public. I think that’s the biggest problem.”
A third friend and supporter says Gillibrand should cut her losses now because “she’s not going to make it.”
Of course, there are many selfish reasons why a politician runs for president. For one, it immediately raises your national profile, because the media is forced to cover you as a candidate.
And no matter how undistinguished your political career, you’ll forever be referenced as a “former presidential candidate” in any news story about you.
As a result of this heightened public awareness, running for president can often lead to lucrative book deals and other profitable media opportunities.
Keep in mind that while showboating politicians like Gillibrand and NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio run for president, taxpayers pay their salaries even though they’re neglecting the jobs they were elected to do.
In addition to her being largely unlikable, Gillibrand’s flip-flopping policy ideas have drawn heavy criticism from all sides.
As BizPac Review reported, Gillibrand was slammed after saying she would not detain ANY illegal aliens in the United States if she were elected president.

“As president of the United States, I wouldn’t use the detention system at all,” Gillibrand told CBS News (video below). “They don’t need to be incarcerated. If they’re given a lawyer and given a process, they will follow it. They can go into the community.”
In other words, Kirsten wouldn’t be bothered if illegal aliens that are child molesters, murderers, drug dealers, and rapists ran roughshod through your neighborhood.

Earth to Kirsten: US taxpayers pay for all these illegal aliens to be processed, fed, given healthcare, and housed.
It costs tens of millions of dollars each year to process people who shouldn’t even be here in the first place.
Basically, Gillibrand is saying that it’s totally fine if illegal aliens who are convicted sex offenders come into your neighborhood.
Because it’s YOUR responsibility as a taxpayer to make sure they feel welcome in the United States and are financially taken care of.

And if the Democratic Party’s mass-importation of illegals costs you money, then you’re a racist for complaining. Or noticing.
Democrats always champion illegal aliens but forget about the hundreds of Americans who are murdered each year by people who shouldn’t even be in the United States in the first place.
