Watching the anti-Trump networks CNN and MSNBC brings to mind the old adage about throwing things up against a wall to see what sticks.
In a Friday segment talking about President Donald Trump’s rally the night before in New Hampshire, where the president tore into an overweight protester who turned out to be a Trump supporter, MSNBC anchor Nicolle Wallace threw out the possibility that the president is suffering from the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease.
Wallace cited New York Times op-ed columnist David Brook in an effort to giver her aspersions credibility.
“David Brooks reported in 2017 that a bunch of Republicans came out of a meeting where Donald Trump displayed some signs that were similar to the early stages of Alzheimer’s,” Wallace said. “You’ve got reporting, I think from Phil’s newspaper, from Axios and other places, that in and out of the room people either disparagingly or affectionately are saying at an increased clip he’s crazy.”
The “Deadline: White House” segment featured a panel that included race hustler Al Sharpton, among others, and Wallace pointed to a New York Times report of Trump’s rally speech that claimed he was “rambling, veering on and off script seemingly at random [for] over an hour and a half, he repeated points he had already made earlier in the evening as if he did not remember already making them.”
In other words, it was a typical Trump rally where he essentially ad-libs for an hour and a half, thoroughly entertaining crowds who turn out by the tens of thousands.
MSNBC legal analyst Joyce Vance grabbed the baton from Wallace and ran with it.
“You know there’s pervasive reporting in this regard,” Vance insisted. “And if it was grandpa you’d probably take him to see a neurologist or someone who specialized in geriatric medicine. That hasn’t hasn’t happened here —”
“That we know of,” Wallace interjected, with an ominous tone.
If viewers didn’t know any better, they might think they were watching a comedy skit.
“That we know of is right,” Vance replied, before drawing on the 25th Amendment, which provides the ability to replace a president unable to discharge the powers and duties of the office.
“But the remedy is the 25th amendment and that requires an intact Cabinet which Trump does not have whether by design or by accident,” she continued. “Most of the Cabinet is acting. We don’t know what the mix would look like in a vote and there’s no will to take that on in any sense.”
In effect, Vance is suggesting that Trump is intentionally not filing all Cabinet seats to prevent himself from being removed from office.
Crazy, you say? If Trump was crazy, it’s safe to say he’s crazy like a fox.
(If Vance’s name sounds familiar, she was in the news recently having made the claim that Fox News would not offer live coverage of former special counsel Robert Mueller’s recent appearance before the House.)
It seems clear that the Left has surrendered on any hope of impeaching Trump over the Russian collusion hoax and are now grasping at straws.
Sharpton got in his two cents by mumbling something about “the nuclear bombs of mechanisms.”
“When you look at the fact that grandpa is not sitting home reading the paper, but he’s on the front page of the paper and that grandpa has the football with the nuclear bombs of mechanisms near him, this is frightening,” he said, adding that “we’ve been hearing over and over again that he [Trump] is losing it.”
Here’s a suggestion Al, change the channel.
