On a positive note, with so much of the country focused on Fredo-gate, Americans can rest assured that, as a nation, we don’t have serious problems taking up our day — and that the political class is sufficiently distracted.
Of course, a major source of that distraction is the ridiculous insistence from CNN’s Chris Cuomo that the name “Fredo” is equivalent to the n-word. This being the best he can come up with on the spot, after realizing he had been caught on camera acting like an idiot.
The CNN anchor summoned an “ethnic slur” defense after apparently being set up by some random guy, who was secretly recording Cuomo as he called him “Fredo,” claiming innocently that he thought that was his name.

Cuomo went berserk, threatening the man that he will “f–king ruin your shit — I’ll f–king throw you down these stairs like a f–king punk.”
“Any of you Italian?” the foul-mouthed Cuomo is heard asking in the video. “It’s an insult to your people. It’s an insult to your f–king people. It’s like the n-word for us. Is that a cool f–king thing?”
Even though CNN has had guests use the term, to include on Cuomo’s show, as he sat silently by.
So @ChrisCuomo says calling him "Fredo" is like the "N-word for us"
Weird, I don't recall him having an issue with Ana Navarro calling @DonaldJTrumpJr "Fredo" ON HIS SHOW ON CNN.
I also don't recall CNN having an issue with Rick Wilson calling Rep. Nunez "Fredo" on CNN.

The comparison prompted widespread ridicule and condemnation, as seen from President Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., and Trump 2020 campaign senior advisor Katrina Pierson.
Oddly, those who trade on criticizing President Trump, people like ex-Trump official Anthony Scaramucci, side with Cuomo.

Not so surprising, CNN Vice President, Communications and Digital, Matt Dornic responded to Trump Jr.’s tweet by supporting Cuomo’s actions against what he called an ‘ethnic’ slur.’ Oddly, he punctuated his widely panned defense with a cheap, personal shot at his younger brother, Eric.
“Speaking of dumb brothers,” the CNN executive tweeted, tagging Eric Trump.

There was an almost blanket response to the ridiculous claim that “Fredo” is an ethnic slur — the character, brilliantly played by John Cazale, is often mentioned in social interactions for the iconic scene with brother Michael Corleone, played by Al Pacino.
In the scene, Fredo complains to brother Michael that he “was stepped over” when their father, Don Corleone, died.”
“It’s the way Pop wanted it,” Michael responded.
“It ain’t the way I wanted it!” Fredo screams. “I can handle things. I’m smart. Not like everybody says. Like dumb. I’m smart and I want respect!”
Keeping in mind, this classic movie came out 47 years ago, in 1972. Yet, not until 2019 do we hear the character’s name equated to an ethnic slur comparable to the n-word.
But then, This. Is. CNN.
I think the guy was being a jerk to @chriscuomo, and I certainly understand Cuomo getting pissed, but there's just no way calling someone Fredo Corleone is like the n-word. There just isn't. That's plain nuts.

I think the guy calling @chriscuomo “Fredo” in front of his wife and kids is a dick. I also do not think it is comparable to the N-word. Also, Chris Cuomo is a phony tough guy. Fair?

So any insult that gets you steamed is the equivalent of the n-word for your group. Go with that. Sure.

As someone born in Rome, whose given name at his baptism in St. Peter’s was Marcantonio, who had a relative in the mob, & who loves Roman history as much as The Godfather and Goodfellas, I would like to submit my credentials as an Italian-American.
“Fredo” ≠ N-word. Not at all https://t.co/DOyWoTTtgn

Video: Someone tell Chris Cuomo that Chris Matthews needs to be thrown down some stairs for saying the Italian-American version of the n-word because, on April 9, Matthews told @JoaquinCastroTX that @DonaldJTrumpJr is the “Fredo-like son” of the First Family pic.twitter.com/aoGS7wSR5B

Words that are as bad as the N word, according to Cuomo:
– Fredo
– Fake news— Dana Loesch (@DLoesch) August 13, 2019
Former Trump campaign and WH assistant Steven Cheung had an interesting take, calling out Cuomo’s claim as the epitome of “white privilege.”
So @ChrisCuomo says that “Fredo”— a character on The Godfather— is the same as the n-word? Equating the two is the very definition of white privilege and diminishes the generations of hate African Americans have had to endure. https://t.co/vbwIAran9S

But if Cuomo wanted to earn himself a nickname among Italians, I think he’s gonna be “Fredo” forever now.

Is @ChrisCuomo racist for trivializing the n-word?
