An autopsy on Jeffrey Epstein was completed over the weekend but the results have not been released, “pending further information at this time.” That pending info apparently will not come out of video footage of the incident, as the New York Post reported that cameras in the wing of the jail that Epstein was in “are trained on the areas outside the cells and not inside, according to sources familiar with the setup there.”

It has also been revealed, according to a source cited by the Associated Press on Sunday, that the Metropolitan Correctional Center’s (MCC) Special Housing Unit in which Epstein was held was staffed by guards who had been working extreme overtime (OT) shifts due to a personnel shortage.

According to that AP report, one of the two guards on duty at the time of Epstein’s apparent suicide was working a fifth straight day of overtime and the second guard was on mandatory OT. The inmate was supposed to have been checked by the two guards every 30 minutes, but that procedure was not followed.

The Washington Post reported late Sunday night, “Corrections officers had not checked in on financier and registered sex offender Jeffrey Epstein for ‘several’ hours before he was found hanging in his cell Saturday, a person familiar with the matter said.”

Epstein was also supposed to have had a cellmate, but the person who had previously been in his cell with him was transferred out on Friday.

“Today, a medical examiner performed the autopsy of Jeffrey Epstein,” Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Barbara Sampson said in a statement. “The ME’s determination is pending further information at this time. At the request of those representing the decedent, and with the awareness of the federal prosecutor, I allowed a private pathologist (Dr. Michael Baden) to observe the autopsy examination. This is routine practice.”

Sampson’s statement continued, “My office defers to the involved law enforcement agencies regarding other investigations around this death. Inquiries regarding the determination of the Chief Medical Examiner should be directed towards my office.”

A Washington Post article on Sunday posited that Epstein’s recent frame of mind sheds doubt on a suicide motivation.

“People close to Epstein, noting that he seemed recently to be in good spirits, were surprised by reports of suicide, according to one person familiar with their discussions Saturday, and expressed concern about the possibility of foul play,” read the Post report.

Meanwhile, an unconfirmed report is circulating that the convicted sexual predator was considering “naming names.”

In July, Epstein was placed on suicide watch after he was found with bruising on his neck, but was removed from that status at the end of the month following psychiatric evaluations.

Court papers released on Friday before Epstein’s death contained the names of several well-known individuals. The New York Post reported those named include “former Maine Sen. George Mitchell and ex-New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, who allegedly slept with an Epstein teenage ‘sex slave'”
