Former Vice President Joe Biden has suggested that if he wins the 2020 presidential election, he’ll open the borders enough to allow a couple million additional aliens to resettle in the U.S.
“We could afford to take in a heartbeat another two million people,” he said during a campaign stop earlier this week hosted by the Asian and Latino Coalition PAC.
“The idea that a country of 330 million people cannot absorb people who are in desperate need and who are justifiably fleeing oppression, it is absolutely bizarre. Absolutely bizarre. I would also move to increase the total number of immigrants able to come to the United States.”

While not as radical as the rhetoric of his peers in the Democrat Party, some of whom have alleged that aliens boast the “right of human mobility,” what Biden said Thursday was nevertheless a far cry from President Donald Trump approach to migration, which has been that it should be limited, especially given its negative effects on working-class Americans.
Besides being radical, the 2020 contender’s spiel was also factually inaccurate.
Biden said America “could afford” to absorb two million additional aliens.
Fact-check: False.
As of early August, the United Stated was in over $22 trillion in debt. Moreover, the deficit was slated to surpass $1 trillion by the end of the year. It’s clear therefore that America can barely afford to pay its own bills, let alone the bills of millions of additional refugees and asylum seekers.
Biden spoke of “people who are in desperate need and who are justifiably fleeing oppression.”
Fact-check: False.
The vast majority of asylum cases are fraudulent.
“About 80 percent [of asylum seekers] pass [their] initial interview, but only 20 percent are granted asylum by a judge, which tells us that 80 percent of that is either just a flat-out fraud or somebody who thinks they can come here because they want a job here,” then-Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen revealed a Fox News interview last year.
Even contributors at CNN, one of the more left-wing networks on TV, have conceded this point.
“[T]he rules surrounding asylum are vague, lax and being gamed,” host Fareed Zakaria admitted in a monologue last month. “Some applicants for asylum have suspiciously similar stories using identical phrases. Many simply use the system to enter the U.S. and then melt into the shadows or gain a work permit while their application is pending.”
“These looser criteria coupled with the reality that this is a safe way to enter the U.S. have made the asylum system easy to abuse,” he added, noting applications have increased from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador “even though the murder rate in their countries has been cut in half.”

According to Breitbart, during Biden’s remarks Thursday, he also pushed for the illegal aliens currently living in the U.S. to be granted amnesty.
“In addition to an increase in legal immigration levels, Biden said his national immigration plan would ensure that all 11 to 22 million illegal aliens living across the U.S. receive amnesty and a pathway to American citizenship,” the outlet reported.
“Likewise, Biden said it is ‘immigration’ that has ‘built this country,’ reiterating the claim that the U.S. is a ‘nation of immigrants,’ calling it ‘a fact.'”
True, but during the time of America’s founding, the country was still comprised of endless plains ready to be settled. Moreover, when the U.S. Constitution went into effect on March 4, 1789, the U.S. government as it was back then didn’t suffer from debilitating debt or contain an endless array of entitlement programs. The only rights Americans and their immigrant peers boasted at the time were the rights to resettle in the U.S. and work hard to achieve their dreams.
But thanks to the existence of a thousand+ entitlement programs, legal and illegal immigrants alike now also boast the right to free government services, from healthcare to welfare.
Data shows that immigrants tend to collect welfare at a higher rate than native-born Americans:
Because of benefits like these, an inordinate number of foreigners from across the globe have shown interest in resettling in the U.S. — either legally or illegally.
According to a Gallup poll published at the start of the year, a whopping 42 million of the 450 million adults who inhabit Latin America and the Caribbean would like to relocate to the United States.
And given that many of these 42 million adults likely have children, this means there are anywhere from 100 to 200 million people in Latin America hoping to one day resettle in the states, be it by claiming asylum or simply sneaking across the unsecured southern U.S. border.
The poll also found that of the 42 million adults in Latin America who aspire to set up shop here, a remarkable five million “are planning to move in the next 12 months.”
At the time this poll was published, Trump used the results to warn of the dangers that await if an open-borders or open-borders-light-supporting Democrat wins the presidency:
Gallup Poll: “Open Borders will potentially attract 42 million Latin Americans.” This would be a disaster for the U.S. We need the Wall now!

Was he wrong? While Biden only spoke of accepting two million refugees and asylum seekers, who’s to say he won’t double or triple it if he wins the election? In fact, upping the cap on refugees and asylum seekers was something his comrade, former President Barack Obama, tried to do multiple times. And you know what they say — like president, like vice president.
