Joe Biden got a little confused while speaking to donors at a high-dollar fundraiser on Sunday night.
Trying to offer his sympathies to the victims of the mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio, the former vice president seemed to get the two locations mixed up with Houston and Michigan.
Biden, 76, reportedly referred to the shootings as “the tragic events in Houston today and also in Michigan the day before,” according to the Washington Examiner. He apparently later corrected himself, but that is still a whopper of a mistake to make so soon after the tragic events.
Biden also joined some of his fellow 2020 Democrat hopefuls by going after President Donald Trump in his response to the shootings. Though he reportedly said that he does not hold the president personally responsible for the shootings, he did say, “You know what, the president’s words have meaning, no matter who he or she is. They are the face of America.”
He added that eight years of Trump will “fundamentally change the character” of the United States.
“We can tolerate four years of this man, but we have a hell of a lot to make up, nationally and internationally,” he said. “But my God — eight years? Eight years of this man will fundamentally change the character of our country.”
The fundraiser for Biden took place at the lavish home of businessman Mark Arabo, an advocate for persecuted Iraqi Christians. Around 75 people were in attendance. They were treated to a three-course meal before they heard Biden’s remarks.
Folks have been responding to Biden’s latest mistake on social media, and people on both sides of the political aisle seem to think the former vice president simply doesn’t have what it takes anymore to compete in politics.
“I liked him as vp, but it’s time for him to step aside. He doesn’t seem like he’s as ‘quick’ as he used to be. Time to put ego aside, and let others take on trump,” one Twitter user said in response to Biden’s flub.
Another replied, “He just needs to go enjoy his retirement.”
“His campaign immediately posted a correction on joe30330!” another said, clearly in response to yet another gaffe made by Biden at the latest debate where he was attempting to give out a web address and starting tripping over his own words.
Another user responded, “If there’s one surefire way to lose Ohio, it’s calling it Michigan.”

What do these donors think when he talks like this in front of them?

OH FFS! He’s ready for the nursing home.

That’s extremely troubling.

Sadly, big mistakes like this are nothing new for Biden. In May, the former vice president made one of his biggest missteps in recent memory when he confused former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher with then-Prime Minister Theresa May. Thatcher left office in 1990 and passed away in 2013.
“Margaret Thatcher, um, excuse me, Margaret Thatcher — Freudian slip,” Biden said at a fundraiser.
He added, “But I knew her too.”
He then corrected him by saying, “The Prime Minister of Great Britain Theresa May.”
The campaign trail has not been easy on Biden so far, but he remains a frontrunner among the Democrats.
