Conservative commentator Candace Owens slammed Beto O’Rourke for suggesting that President Trump “encourages” the “hatred” and “open racism” that led to the tragic shooting in El Paso, Texas.
The former communications director at Turning Point USA blasted the 2020 Democrat presidential hopeful as a “coward” for comments he made during an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper.

O’Rourke spoke on “State of the Union” on Sunday, echoing tone-deaf comments he has already been making, blaming Trump for stoking division. He also said he blames the president and his supporters for the senseless tragedy.
“Something has to change,” he told Tapper.
“We have to acknowledge the hatred, the open racism that we’re seeing. There is an environment of it in the United States,” he added, blatantly stirring up more hatred by laying blame for the mass shooting in an El Paso shopping center Saturday by a 21-year-old who killed 20 people and injured more than two dozen others.
“We see it on Fox News, we see it on the Internet and we also see it from our commander-in-chief. He is encouraging this. He doesn’t just tolerate it, he encourages it, calling immigrants rapists and criminals and seeking to ban all people of one religion,” the former Texas congressman declared. “Folks are responding to this. It doesn’t just offend us, it encourages the violence we’re seeing including in my home town of El Paso yesterday.”
Owens tore into the Democrat’s remarks:

The Texas gunman reportedly posted a racist, anti-immigrant manifesto before the attack prompting the left to predictably lay the blame on Trump as well as conservatives and the National Rifle Association. White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney defended the president on Sunday, pointing out that the alleged shooter’s own manifesto predicted the president would be falsely blamed for his actions.
“If you do read that, you’ll know that he felt this way for a long time, even before President Trump got elected. Why aren’t we trying to figure out a way to bring the nation together instead of saying it is the president’s fault?” Mulvaney said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
As Owens pointed out in her tweet, the Ohio gunman described himself on social media as a pro-Satan leftist who supported Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) for president.
That 24-year-old gunman opened fire outside a bar in Dayton, killing his own sister and eight others before police fatally shot him.

Trump extended condolences to the families and victims of both tragedies as he spoke briefly to reporters on Sunday. He denounced the shootings and pledged to take action to prevent future tragedies, while announcing he will be making a statement on Monday morning.
“Hate has no place in our country. And we’re going to take care of it,” the president said, with first lady Melania Trump at his side.
But Democrats and others on the left politicized the tragic events, wasting no time in laying the blame at Trump’s feet.
Tapper noted in his interview with O’Rourke that the El Paso gunman’s manifesto revealed his views pre-dated Trump and that he knew the president would be blamed. But O’Rourke had his anti-Trump blinders on, and he was on a mission to attack the president.
“I don’t know the point that you’re trying to make here, Jake, but it is pretty obvious to me and anyone who listened to the president and will look at the facts that his anti-immigrant rhetoric … is encouraging greater racism and not just the racist rhetoric but the violence that so often follows,” he said.

“This anti-immigrant rhetoric, and again it is not just President Trump, but he’s certainly as the person in the position of greatest public trust in power most responsible for it,” he continued. “This is Fox News, this is what we’re seeing on the Internet, this is the toleration of intolerance and hatred and racism in this country, and this is what we’re seeing here today, and it will continue to happen unless we call it out and unless we change it.”
But, as Owens noted in her tweet, the finger-pointing is one-sided, and the left continues slamming the president and his supporters for inciting hatred and division while regularly doing just that themselves.
