A buff, tatted-up Pete Hegseth joined a group of 30 Navy SEALs to swim across the Hudson River in support of military vets and their families.
The Fox News host, a U.S. Army veteran, participated in the event that was hosted by the GI Go fund — the first-ever legally sanctioned swim across the Hudson River, according to Fox News.
Taking to Twitter, Hegseth would have you believe that he “barely” made it.
“We finished (me, barely!). What an honor. Humbling to watch America’s best make it look easy — for a great cause (@GIGoFund!),” the Fox host tweeted.

Along the route, SEALs will make stops at the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island before arriving in Battery Park. At each stop, SEALs will perform pushups and pullups to honor America’s liberties, diversity, and those who have fought to preserve them. Upon their arrival at Battery Park, the SEALs will run towards One World Trade Center and end their journey at the America’s Response Monument.
Featured on “Fox & Friends,” Hegseth explained why he was so keen on participating with the Navy SEALs after completing the second of three legs.
“Well, I’m in awe of these guys and what they do and how many of them left it all on the battlefield,” he said.
He also explained that the special forces members were also honoring a fellow team member lost in a jump, when his parachute failed to open.
“It makes the risk I take jumping into the Hudson River nothing,” Hegseth said. “Nothing compared to what these guys do, and what guys are doing right now across the globe to keep us free.”
Plenty of folks took to Twitter to congratulate Hegseth and the Navy SEALs for the swim.
“That was awesome to watch! Thank you Pete and Seals for recognizing our wonderful veterans,” one user wrote in response.

“To get to do this on a beautiful day in New York City, it’s an honor and a blessing,” he added.
After emphasizing the importance of team work, there was some banter about the third and final leg of the event being the most difficult.
“We like to say the only easy day was yesterday,” a SEAL team member said.
After the event was over, four SEAL team members appeared with Hegseth on “Fox & Friends” to discuss the event and talk about how Hegseth did — he did need a little help once or twice.
In fact, he spoke about his “swim buddy” for the day, who was one of the four who came on the set.
“He said to me, ‘Grab onto my shorts, I’ll swim,'” the Fox News host explained. “I’m not kidding. And for 30 seconds, it was like I was following Superman.”
The segment featured details of the event, which ended with the run to America’s Response Monument.
As the “Fox & Friends” crew remarked, what an inspiration to know that these men are out there keeping America safe.
