Obama’s ‘not woke enough now!’ Bill Maher goes right for the big blue jugular

HBO talk show host Bill Maher was not that impressed with the most recent Democrat presidential debates on CNN. He made that point clear on his show “Real Time with Bill Maher” on Friday night.

“The Democratic candidates went after the president hard, unfortunately the president was Obama,” Maher said with shock to his audience about the debates. The “Religulous” star was referring to multiple candidates targeting the Obama administration, especially through former Vice President Joe Biden, in Wednesday night’s debate. Maher does not see the attacks as a winning strategy.

“The guy with the 97 percent approval rating among the Democrats,” he said. “His s*** is not woke enough now!”

Maher seems to think such infighting gives President Donald Trump an even better chance in 2020.

“Trump saw that, he called Putin, he said, ‘I got this one,'” Maher joked.

Check out the video below. The comments about the debates begin at the 2:44 mark.

Maher also reiterated that he thinks there are far too many candidates running, something he made clear on his show weeks ago when he told a total of 10 of the people runnings to “get the f*** out.”

When calling out the amount of candidates running, Maher also took a direct shot at Kamala Harris.

Maher said the debates were “a chance, of course, for viewers to hear 20 different versions of America. That was just from Kamala Harris.”

The candidates Maher previously told to exit the race were Michael Bennet, Bill de Blasio, John Delaney, Kirsten Gillibrand, John Hickenlooper, Tim Ryan, Beto O’Rourke, Andrew Yang, Marianne Williamson, and Eric Swalwell — the last of whom actually did leave the race.

Of the people Maher wanted to see kicked to the curb, he seems to be all turned around on Williamson though. The viral candidate appeared on his show on Friday night.

“I think it’s interesting because people are just coming to you through politics,” Maher told Williamson in a fawning interview. “I’m old enough to remember — you’ve been around, you’re big! You were Oprah’s spiritual adviser!”

“I don’t know about that,” Williamson replied, “but she was very generous to me, that’s for sure.”

And though he wasn’t too excited about the Democrat debates thus far, Maher did praise Williamson’s performances and the way she goes to “the root of things.”

“I love that. Everyone else is talking surface,” Maher said, “and you say, ‘What about immigration? Let’s talk about why they’re coming here,’ … and health. You and I are simpatico on health. … What you say is what I’ve always said! We’re never gonna fix this health care crisis because we don’t ask about why people are so sick!”

“Well, our current politics, our current political establishment — what I call ‘Yada, yada, yada’ politics — is based in 20th-century thinking. This is now the 21st century,” said Williamson.

She added about “21st century politics,” “There’s a 21st-century political conversation that the old establishment doesn’t seem to understand, but — what’s most dangerous now — doesn’t seem to be open to. And that must change or we will not beat Trump and we will not bring forth a future that we want for our country.”
