Republican Senator Steve Daines introduced a resolution condemning socialism, a failed ideology that is being aggressively pushed by today’s “radical, socialist, far-left.”

Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are among the most vocal proponents of socialism in Congress today.

“A radical, socialist, far-left movement is growing across this country. And it has taken root as the new voice of the Democratic Party,” Daines said from the Senate floor. “Today we make a choice: freedom or socialism. I choose freedom.”

The resolution notes that: “Socialism inevitably leads to societal rot, resulting in devastation, economic poverty, and destruction.”

The three-page resolution concludes by asserting: “That the Senate acknowledges that Marxism and socialism are failed ideologies…and affirms that the United States should never be a socialist country.”

Senator Daines says he introduced the resolution because the United States has reached a critical juncture now, as radical Democrats aggressively push their Party and the country to the far-left.

Daines says now is the time to nip this destructive ideology infecting Congress in the bud before we lose what made America great: Capitalism, freedom, and free enterprise.

“We are at a pivotal time in our great nation’s history,” Daines said. “America was founded upon the principles of liberty, the free enterprise system and the promotion of national sovereignty and a strong national defense…A radical, socialist, far-Left movement is growing across this country. And it has taken root as the new voice of the Democratic Party.”

Daines later said: “I stand with President Trump. President Trump loves America. I love this country. What President Trump is doing is exposing the radical leftist, anti-American, Socialist, pro-terrorism movement that is afoot right now in the United States House of Representatives.”

Meanwhile, two American economists who recently completed a global drinking tour comically revealed how their consumption of beer around the world exposed the pitfalls of socialism.

In their book, “Socialism Sucks: Two Economists Drink Their Way Through the Unfree World,” authors Robert Lawson and Benjamin Powell visited North Korea, Venezuela, and Cuba.

“In Cuba, there were only two types of beer, almost the same in alcohol content and both tasted like skunky Budweiser. In North Korea, it was just god-awful,” Lawson told Fox News. “And, in Venezuela, the country has basically run out of beer because the government planners couldn’t import enough barley.”

“We were on the border of Colombia and Venezuela, and the Colombian side was awash with all kinds of beer. On the other side, Venezuela had nothing for sale and people had to cross into Colombia just to get the basic necessities.

It’s an important lesson for ‘Democratic Socialists’ in the U.S. to remember that (Hugo) Chavez came to power in free and fair elections, but socialism centralizes economic power and the system starts nationalizing farms, factories, even hotels.”

Lawson concluded that socialism is a disaster everywhere it has been tried. “The freer the country is, the more it prospers,” he noted.

As BizPac Review reported, Democrat Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy said she’s alarmed by the radical socialist policies being championed by members of her own party. Murphy did not name names, but was clearly referring to newbie Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Stephanie Murphy is a two-term congresswoman who calls herself a “proud capitalist.” Murphy, the first Vietnamese-American woman in Congress, says growing up in  socialist Vietnam gave her firsthand experience of the failures and horrors of socialism.

“I am offended by this whole conversation about socialism,” Murphy said. “The idea that in the greatest democracy — the greatest capitalist system in the world — we’re having casual conversation about socialism, offends me.”
