Trump demands investigation into Cummings after rep ‘screamed’ and ‘bullied’ border patrol. His district ‘FAR WORSE …’

President Donald Trump had some harsh words for Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) on Saturday morning. The president held nothing back as he tweeted that Cummings’ Maryland district is “the worst run and most dangerous anywhere in the United States.”

Trump also blasted Cummings as a “brutal bully” and called for an investigation into how government funds are being spent in the congressman’s district.

“Rep. Elijah Cummings has been a brutal bully, shouting and screaming at the great men & women of Border Patrol about conditions at the Southern Border, when actually his Baltimore district is FAR WORSE and more dangerous,” the president tweeted.

He continued, “His district is considered the Worst in the USA as proven last week during a Congressional tour, the Border is clean, efficient & well run, just very crowded. Cumming[s’] District is a disgusting, rat and rodent-infested mess. If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could clean up this very dangerous & filthy mess.”

President Trump then added, “Why is so much money sent to the Elijah Cummings district when it is considered the worst run and most dangerous anywhere in the United States. No human being would want to live there. Where is all this money going? How much is stolen? Investigate this corrupt mess immediately!”

Cummings, the House Oversight Committee Chairman, has long been a vocal critic of Trump and the president’s recent attacks follow the congressman blasting conditions at migrant detention centers.

The congressman went so far in his criticisms of migrant detention facility conditions that he said U.S.-run facilities on the southern border equate to “government-sponsored child abuse.”

“We have seen cases where the administration has deported parents without their children and still, to this day, have not reunited those families,” he said. “This is government-sponsored child abuse … on a grand scale.”

Cummings also went after acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan last week during a House hearing on the border crisis.

“You feel like you’re doing a great job, right?” Cummings asked of McAleenan. “What does that mean? What does that mean? When a child is sitting in their own feces, can’t take a shower?”

He added, “Come on man. What’s that about? None of us would have our children in that position. They are human beings.”

The congressman even wondered out loud at point if there was a “empathy deficit” in border patrol agents working in migrant detention facilities. The comment triggered McAleenan who invited Cummings to tour a facility and praised border patrol agents for making more than 4000 rescues a year.

Despite Democrats constantly going after migrant detention facilities, a recent Fox News report showed the inside of one such facility in California and the place included 24-hour access to health, dental and mental care, as well as outdoor recreation and a law library.

Trump’s tweets about Cummings also follow the House Oversight and Reform Committee authorizing Cummings to subpoena for records from the White House related to aides using allegedly personal emails for official business.

“There are serious questions about this White House’s use of personal email and text accounts. We must issue these subpoenas to get our answers,” Cummings announced about the subpoena this week.
