Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein urged Lindsey Graham — the chairman of the Republican-led Senate Judiciary Committee — to reconsider his decision to force a vote on his asylum bill next week after Democrats blocked the measure by not showing up to vote this week.
“Our Committee rules are intended to ensure meaningful participation by both the majority and the minority, regardless which party is in charge,” Feinstein wrote. “Your announcement to disregard these rules, proceed with legislation in violation of our rules and practices, and change the rules unilaterally in a partisan manner is deeply concerning…I urge you to delay taking this matter up until after the August recess.”
The rules guiding the 10-member committee require that 7 members from the majority (Republicans) and 2 from the minority party (Democrats) show up to vote on the proposed bill. Dianne Feinstein was the only Dem to show up for the vote, which forced Graham to delay voting on the bill.

Senator Graham responded to the Democratic filibuster by saying that Republicans will change the rules to get rid of the requirement that two Democrats be at a meeting in order to vote on legislation.
Naturally, Feinstein and other Democrats got enraged and accused Lindsey Graham of trying to push a law through without their consent (even though they forced his hand by not showing up to vote).
Keep in mind that lawmakers’ primary job is to consider and vote on laws, so not showing up to vote on legislation is a dereliction of duty and a waste of taxpayer money.
Predictably, Feinstein wants Graham to delay voting on his asylum bill until September — after Congress enjoys a taxpayer-funded vacation for the entire month of August.
Lindsey Graham‘s proposed bill would:
- Increase the number of days a migrant “family” can be held together from 20 days to 100 days.
- Require asylum claims be filed in Mexico or a home country instead of the United States.
- Hire 500 new immigration judges to process asylum claims.
- Send unaccompanied minors from Central America back to their home countries (this is what happens to unaccompanied minors from Canada or Mexico).
Under the current rules, migrant “families” (including the fake “families”) can only be held in a detention facility for 20 days before they’re released into the United States.
It takes more than 20 days to process these bogus asylum claims because of the unprecedented barrage of illegal aliens sneaking into the United States, thanks to the Democrats’ open-borders marketing propaganda.
So what winds up happening is that 100% of the “migrant families” held in detention are released into the country.
Naturally, open-borders Democrats have balked at Senator Graham’s asylum bill because it would stem the mass-flooding of illegal aliens into the United States. Illegal immigration costs U.S. taxpayers more than $116 billion every single year.
The barrage of illegal aliens also causes mass overcrowding in public schools and hospitals. And this situation will become exponentially worse since Democrats want to provide free health care to all illegal aliens. This is a perk that not even American citizens or lawful residents currently enjoy.
As BizPac Review reported, many of these migrant “families” are not real families. Investigations show that children are being “rented.”
This is because of an alarming trend where human traffickers recycle unaccompanied children and use them as props so that a group of migrants can pose as a “family,” since being a family unit increases the chances that they will be granted asylum.
President Trump wants to discourage illegal aliens from exploiting children as props in order to jump the line ahead of legal immigrants. But Democrats (and some RINOs) oppose the plan because they’re worried about left-wing media outrage.
Meanwhile, open-borders Democrats don’t care that they’re forcing U.S. taxpayers to pay for tens of millions of illegals who are currently at large all across the country.
