Having witnessed how the media and the fashion industry fawned over former first lady Michelle Obama, ignoring obvious flaws to accentuate the positive, such as her “tone” arms, the way these same individuals treat first lady Melania Trump is a true disgrace.
The most recent example of this involves Vogue’s editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, who blatantly disrespected Mrs. Trump, only to be praised on social media for her “classy shade.”
Wintour was being interviewed by Anne McElvoy on the Economist podcast and was specifically asked to comment about Melania Trump’s very deliberate fashion choices.
McElvoy set the stage by saying Trump “very consciously” chose British designers during last month’s state visit to the U.K. last month, to buck fashion trends in the U.S.

Instead of commenting on Mrs. Trump’s style, Wintour launched into lavish praise for her predecessor.
“Well, I think first lady Michelle Obama really was so incredible in every decision she made about fashion,” Wintour said. “She supported young American designers. She supported designers, indeed, from all over the world. She was the best ambassador that this country could possibly have in many ways, obviously, way beyond fashion.”
Never mind that Mrs. Obama surely had an entire team of fashion experts making every decision for her.
Oh, by the way, while Melania Trump, a former model, has been conspicuously absent from fashion magazines like Vogue since her husband was elected president, Michelle Obama graced their cover THREE times.

Wintour told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour that when it comes to featuring first ladies and women leaders, “you have to stand up for what you believe in and you have to take a point of view.”
“We profile women in the magazine that we believe in the stand that they’re taking on issues we support them, we feel that they are leaders,” she said.
The first lady’s spokesperson, Stephanie Grisham, dismissed the shade from the fashion editor.
“To be on the cover of Vogue doesn’t define Mrs. Trump, she’s been there, done that long before she was first lady,” Grisham told Fox News.
“Her role as first lady of the United States and all that she does is much more important than some superficial photo shoot and cover,” she said. “This just further demonstrates how biased the fashion magazine industry is, and shows how insecure and small-minded Anna Wintour really is.
“Unfortunately, Mrs. Trump is used to this kind of divisive behavior.”
