Much to the relief of anti-Trumpers, the president has taken to Twitter again.
Relief because, as it is, there really is nothing else to discuss. The country is humming along with record low unemployment, no signs of recession, and business is far from usual — it is flourishing with no end in sight.
It doesn’t matter that more (lower “d”) democratic institutions and freedoms are preserved under his administration (2nd Amendment, anyone? Religious freedoms? Business protections?) than anytime in recent memory.
Thanks to Trump.
Or not.
There is no end to the constant barrage of the Trump-hating mainstream media — and of course, their lapdogs, the idiotic talking heads marching in lockstep — a well-oiled machine shrill with perceived indignities and slights.
Rush the smelling salts! Cue the fainting couch to catch the fallen! Trump has tweeted that illegals are breaking the law (well, that’s the definition…really) and he has a plan to wall up the porous border.
The insults against this sitting president are a nonstop barrage of embarrassment for this good and great country.
But the beat goes on.
This just in! (Feigned) outrage over a tweet that says disgruntled (capital “D”) Democratic Party members might take in the country they live in … to not lose sight of their freedoms.
“If you don’t like it here, you can leave!” Trump’s latest salvo has provoked outrage among Democrats. And it’s of course, true. America’s freedoms are just too precious to take lightly. Plus, Republicans have the reins now, yes? Perhaps it would behoove Democrats to allow the Republicans to have their moment. They’ve certainly earned it.
But it seems “hooving” is just not within the scope of reason for fleet-footed slanderers who rush to the press.
“They’re bringing drugs…they’re bringing crime …they’re rapists …” Remember the original that sparked the avalanche? CNN trots it out often. Just last night, in fact. It doesn’t matter that, of course, he doesn’t believe ALL border-crossers are rapists. No, President Trump believes there are some criminals crossing the border. It’s hard to deny there are illegals swelling the ranks of the U.S.’ many gangs.
Anti-Trumpers are setting the mousetraps by the millions. Death by 1,000 paper cuts.
Many across the aisle thought the last entrenched line in the sand was the infamous Mueller report. Surely after this nothingburger, when it was finally revealed, even the worst of the mud-dragging cabal of mythmakers would throw in the towel.
Strange times.
It’s a sham.
But even hardened Trump thumpers cannot deny the inscrutable. Overheard on NPR just this morning: He may be course, “but he’s getting the job done right.” It’s hard to argue against this. And … NPR? Hardly a bastion of centeredness.
It’s instructive to use popular polls so, according to a recent CNN poll, a full 71 percent of Americans feel the nation’s economy is on the right path.
Where are the honest Democrats to admit this? Surely there some who can come forward.
