Dem ‘squad’ puts on attention-seeking 5 pm victimhood presser; refuse to call Trump president

The Dem “squad” that has recently been verbally feuding with Donald Trump — this freshman four group includes Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Ayanna Pressley — held a Monday press conference where they answered to recent remarks made about them by the president.

Pressley took time behind the microphone first. She called Trump’s remarks “xenophobic” and “bigoted.” She also made clear that she refuses to refer to Trump as the president. She instead refers to him as simply the “occupant” in the White House.

She then complained about illegal immigrants being detained and deported from the United States. According to her, illegal immigrants should not be detained at all because they are only seeking to exercise “their legal, human right and that is seek asylum.”

Omar continued blasting raids carried out by ICE when she got behind the microphone. She also said Trump is “openly violating the oath he took to the United States and the core values that we aspire to.”

She also called the Trump administration the “most corrupt” in America’s history.

“This is the agenda of white nationalists,” Omar added about Trump’s recent remarks.

Omar also said that it is time to “impeach” the president.

Ocasio-Cortez got behind the microphone next and she continued the theme of whining about the detainment and deportation of illegal immigrants.

Tlaib added that she believes it should be a top priority for Congress to start the process of voting to impeach the president.

Trump tweeted immediately after the press conference and pushed back against the Dem lawmakers laying the blame of migrant detention center conditions and ICE raids on him.

“The Obama Administration built the Cages, not the Trump Administration! DEMOCRATS MUST GIVE US THE VOTES TO CHANGE BAD IMMIGRATION LAWS,” he tweeted.

The press conference followed President Donald Trump himself speaking to reporters about the feud on Monday on the south lawn of the White House.

“They are very unhappy,” Trump said of the freshman four following his original criticisms thrown at the lawmakers.

“I’m watching them, all they do is complain,” the president continued. “All I’m saying, if they want to leave, they can leave.”

He went on to say that the “squad” of freshman lawmakers “hate our country … with a passion.”

The president also said Omar hates “Israel” and “Jews.”

Trump later made some of these same points in a series of tweets.

“We will never be a Socialist or Communist Country. IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY HERE, YOU CAN LEAVE! It is your choice, and your choice alone. This is about love for America,” he wrote.

Trump continued, “Certain people HATE our Country. They are anti-Israel, pro Al-Qaeda, and comment on the 9/11 attack, ‘some people did something.’ Radical Left Democrats want Open Borders, which means drugs, crime, human trafficking, and much more.”

He then added, “Detention facilities are not Concentration Camps! America has never been stronger than it is now – rebuilt Military, highest Stock Market EVER, lowest unemployment and more people working than ever before. Keep America Great!”

Though he did not specifically name them, it’s clear who Trump is referring to based on his bringing up that “certain people” are anti-Israel — Omar has been criticized for controversial comments on Israel — as well as his reference to “concentration camps,” a term that has gotten Ocasio-Cortez in trouble since she used it multiple times to describe migrant detention centers in the United States, clearly being ignorant or dismissive about the term’s history.

All four women bit back at the president on Twitter after he originally said about the leftists, “Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came?”

Despite heavy criticism and accusations of racism swirling around his original comment, Trump has continued to double down on his criticism of the four Democrats.
