Democrat Representative Ted Lieu, known primarily for his extreme left viewpoints and divisive rhetoric, once again took aim at President Trump on Sunday … calling him a “racist ass” on Twitter and on MSNBC’s “Weekends with Alex Witt.”
Lieu was triggered by the President’s own Sunday morning tweets that said: “So interesting to see ‘Progressive’ Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly……
“….and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run. Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime-infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how….
“….it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!”
Lieu promptly responded online to Trump with a heavy dose of misplaced self-righteousness, “As an immigrant who served on active duty, I am appalled you are telling us to ‘go back.'”
Hey @realDonaldTrump: What makes America exceptional is we are a nation of immigrants. As an immigrant who served on active duty, I am appalled you are telling us to “go back.”
I’m not going back. America is our home. And I will still be in Congress after your racist ass leaves. https://t.co/GHNkTlBEJr

Shortly after his tweet, Lieu appeared on MSNBC after being introduced by anchor Alex Witt as an MSNBC favorite … “Joining me now Ted lieu, member of the Judiciary Committee and a good friend to us here. It’s always good to have you.” She proceeded to read off his tweet to the President and asked for his comments.
“As an immigrant myself, I know that when we came to America, we were poor,” Lieu replied. “My parents went to flea markets to sell gifts to make ends meet, and eventually they opened a successful small business and achieved the American dream.”
Somewhere, someone dabbed at their eyes at this point.
“That’s one of the reasons I joined the air force on active duty. Because I believe America is an exceptional country. I never thought I’d see the day when a president was telling immigrants to go back to where we came from. Donald Trump, once again demonstrates that he’s a racist ass. He is dividing Americans, not trying to unify us and I can’t wait to see him leave the office of the president.
“I think he’s becoming increasingly more and more unhinged as he sees things are going against him,” Lieu added. “He has not been able to build his wall, he has been able to make the border situation any better and now he’s trying to do other things to amp up his base.
“He doesn’t understand most Americans are immigrants or have family members or have grandparents who are immigrants. His attack today is different because he’s attacking legal immigration and U.S. citizenship. It’s really a new low for him. And I think Americans are going to react very badly against the President.”
Of course, there was no effort on the part of the reporter to argue the point that the President’s tweets had nothing to do with immigration, legal or otherwise … but rather he was directly and clearly speaking to the “‘Progressive’ Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe.”
