The woman vying for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s seat in the 2020 elections may have just inadvertently destroyed any chance she ever had of defeating “Cocaine Mitch.”
Not that she had much of a chance at all to begin with …

In an interview with the Louisville Courier-Journal that was published Wednesday, failed 2018 Democrat state House candidate Amy McGrath made the irreparable mistake of admitting that, had she been a senator during Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh tumultuous confirmation hearings last year, she’d have voted to confirm him to the high court.
Questioned about Kavanaugh, she specifically said that though she was concerned about his “far-right stances,” and though she found since-exposed accuser Christine Blasey Ford’s accusations to be “credible,” she’d have voted for the Supreme Court nominee anyway.
“I was very concerned about Judge Kavanaugh, what I felt like were the far-right stances that he had,” she said. “However, there was nothing in his record that I think would disqualify him in any way. And the fact is when you have the president and the Senate, this is our system and so I don’t think there was anything that would have disqualified him in my mind.”
“I think it’s credible but given the amount of time that lapsed in between and from a judicial standpoint, I don’t think it would really disqualify him. … You know, I think that with Judge Kavanaugh, yeah, I probably would have voted for him,” she added when asked about Ford’s allegations.
She wasn’t wrong about the time issue. The problem is that the left is allergic to the truth. To them, the since-confirmed justice is and has always been a sexual abuser, never mind the lack of evidence.
And so, not shockingly, some among the left responded with rage:

But instead of remaining firm in her position — a move that would have at least won her the respect of moderates and independents — McGrath then performed a full 180.
“I was asked earlier today about Judge Brett Kavanaugh and I answered based upon his qualifications to be on the Supreme Court. But upon further reflection and further understanding of his record, I would have voted no,” she tweeted later Wednesday evening.
“I know I disappointed many today with my initial answer on how I would have voted on Brett Kavanaugh. I will make mistakes and always own up to them. The priority is defeating Mitch McConnell.”
Some leftists — those who hate “Cocaine Mitch” — wrote that they were willing to “forgive” this error. Others made it clear that McGrath’s time in the left-wing spotlight was over.
For the most part, the non-forgivers seemed to outnumber the forgivers:

As if this wasn’t bad enough, the scandal grew even worse for McGrath late Wednesday evening when the following tweet that she’d posted in the summer of 2018 went viral.
“I echo the concerns over the nomination of Judge Kavanaugh,” she’d warned at the time. “He’s been against women’s reproductive rights, workers’ rights, consumer protections, and is a hardcore partisan. But we are reminded, again, that elections have consequences, and this will be with us for a generation.”
This tweet made it clear that, despite her claim that she’d needed “further reflection and further understanding” of the Kavanaugh situation to reach the allegedly right answer — “no” — she’d been fully aware of all the issues surrounding his confirmation hearings at the time.

This suggests therefore that her sudden about-face wasn’t genuine but rather a shameless, transparent attempt to pander to the increasingly radicalized left-wing mob.
