President Donald Trump lashed out at the media on Sunday for their unflattering reports on conditions in migrant detention centers.
“The Fake News Media, in particular the Failing @nytimes, is writing phony and exaggerated accounts of the Border Detention Centers,” Trump tweeted.
He continued, “First of all, people should not be entering our Country illegally, only for us to then have to care for them. We should be allowed to focus on United States Citizens first. Border Patrol, and others in Law Enforcement, have been doing a great job. We said there was a Crisis – the Fake News & the Dems said it was ‘manufactured.’”

Trump finished by saying that bad conditions in migrant detention centers are due to overcrowding and overcrowding is only an issue because Democrats in Congress refuse to take meaningful steps forward on immigration policy.
“Now all agree we were right, but they always knew that. They are crowded (which we brought up, not them) because the Dems won’t change the Loopholes and Asylum. Big Media Con Job!” he tweeted.

The mainstream media and leftist politicians have been having a ball since the DHS Office of Inspector General (OIG) released reports detailing conditions in multiple migrant detention centers as poor due to overcrowding and poor administrative planning.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) claimed after visiting a migrant detention center that detainees were drinking out of toilets, but this observation was argued to be false by many.
A Facebook group that allegedly involves current and former border patrol agents was also recently detailed in a report from ProPublica.
The group was reportedly sharing vulgar messages about migrants and liberal politicians like AOC. The CBP has condemned the messages in the group and said any border patrol agents involved will face consequences following an internal investigation.
“Today, U.S. Customs and Border Protection was made aware of disturbing social media activity hosted on a private Facebook group that may include a number of CBP employees,” Matthew Klein, the assistant commissioner of the CBP’s Office of Professional Responsibility, said in a public statement about the group. “CBP immediately informed DHS Office of the Inspector General and initiated an investigation.”
Acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan said any accusations of mistreatment of migrants in detention centers are “unsubstantiated.”
As Congress continues to avoid doing much of anything when it comes to immigration, the Trump administration continues to move forward.
Acting United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Director Ken Cuccinelli revealed on Sunday that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is ready to move forward with mass deportations across the United States. The plan was for the deportations to happen weeks ago, but Trump delayed the plan to give Congress time to make some forward progress on illegal immigration and border security.
“[ICE agents are] ready to just perform their mission which is to go and find and detain and then deport the approximately one million people who have final removal orders. They’ve been all the way through the due process and have final removal orders. Who among those will be targeted for this particular effort or not is really just information kept within ICE,” Cuccinelli told CBS News.
