President Donald Trump’s plan to celebrate America is sending liberals into a panicked meltdown.
With tanks and other military vehicles rolling in to Washington, D.C. ahead of the president’s planned Fourth of July “Salute to America” spectacular, the left is sounding the alarm with ridiculous hot takes likening it to Tiananmen Square and Trump to dictators of other countries.

Fox News contributor Tammy Bruce summed it up Wednesday, suggesting that “the left can’t have any fun any more.”
Sitting in for Fox News host Laura Ingraham, Bruce spoke with journalist Raymond Arroyo on the uproar that Trump’s event and the presence of U.S. tanks in the nation’s capitol have caused.

“What the president has brought forward is a renewed optimism,” she said on “The Ingraham Angle” Wednesday, noting that the left seems to want to “erase history.”
“They want to say they support the troops but they want to erase the military, strangely,” she said, adding that Trump’s plan to showcase the military “reminds us of our power.”
“I find it heartening and optimistic and fun,” Bruce said. “I guess, the left can’t have any fun any more.”
Arroyo addressed the “flack” Trump has been taking for his planned Fourth of July celebration which will include a proud display of America’s military with flyovers from military jets, military vehicles on the National Mall as well as a speech from Trump and the “biggest ever” fireworks display. The president tweeted about the “Salute to America” on Tuesday.
Big 4th of July in D.C. “Salute to America.” The Pentagon & our great Military Leaders are thrilled to be doing this & showing to the American people, among other things, the strongest and most advanced Military anywhere in the World. Incredible Flyovers & biggest ever Fireworks!

But the “hardware” that Trump has brought in to Washington for the parade is “actually tame by historical standards,” Arroyo explained, referring to the military vehicles that have the left warning of dictatorships. He shared photos of past events such as President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s inauguration in 1941.
“There’s a row of tanks all the way down Pennsylvania avenue!” Arroyo pointed out.

Arroyo went on to note other examples by former presidents such as Dwight D. Eisenhower’s inauguration in 1957 which saw “missiles rolling through the capital.”
Tanks on the mall. Concentration camps. Man, it’s like FDR is president all over again.

“None of this is new,” Arroyo told Bruce. “It’s part of Trump’s leadership style. He’s a producer at heart. He likes to project images, and here he’s trying to revive respect for the military, and a sense of patriotism. We need the unity.”
#Kennedy was not against featuring some armored firepower either. These are some tracked-mounted missiles – including the Pershing, the Nike Hercules and the Nike Zeus – at JFK’s 1961 inaugural parade. #tankfest2019 #Tank #ParadeGate pic.twitter.com/fJNVtjOgD0

He added that Trump is, in a sense, “elevating July 4” by bringing in the military and military families who are “going to have pride of place at this celebration.”
But liberals make it clear again and again that they do not share the same sense of pride in America that most of the nation does. And, as last week’s Democratic 2020 debates proved, they are more interested in helping those coming to and living in the U.S. illegally than helping average Americans.
MSNBC’s Joy Reid made the case Wednesday for how Trump’s planned celebration proves that he “aspires to be” North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un or Russian President Vladimir Putin and that America’s birthday spectacular is literally a “threat” to the nation.

The Washington Post’s editorial board slammed every aspect of Thursday’s “Salute to America” event which they accused Trump of making all about himself while complaining about the “troubling” display of the military.
“But the question of expense pales in comparison with the message that will be sent by a gaudy display of military hardware that is more in keeping with a banana republic than the world’s oldest democracy,” the op-ed stated.
But Townhall senior editor Matt Vespa argued that Trump’s call to order the military vehicles as part of the event was a “great decision.”
“And the fact that the Left is triggered by this means that he should have ordered more tanks for the event,” he wrote Wednesday.
“Tanks have been present for victory parades before. The optics is fine. No one cares about that. Americans are patriotic and they like seeing tanks,” he added. “The only people who have problems with all of this are the Democratic Party and their allies in the media because Trump has taken over the event. He can do that. He should do that. And the Left just needs to shut their face over this.”
