‘Hannity’ panel rips NYT’s op-ed: If American greatness is a myth, why are so many clamoring to get in?

A Fox News panel discussed the left’s hatred of America and wondered why thousands are “clamoring” at the border to get in if things are as bad here as they argue.

Former Trump administration official Sebastian Gorka and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk joined Gregg Jarrett who was sitting in as guest host on “Hannity” Wednesday, to discuss how Democrats are so anti-Trump that they have become anti-American in the process.

“If America’s greatness is just a myth and we are only ‘OK’ according to The New York Times, why is it that hundreds of thousands of people are clamoring at our border and sneaking in?” Jarrett asked Kirk.

“America is the only country in the history of the world where even those who say they hate it refuse to leave, ” Kirk replied, citing a New York Times op-ed, noting how what were once considered anti-American “fringe ideologies” have now seeped into the mainstream.

Ahead of the celebrations in honor of the nation’s birthday, a video op-ed appeared in The New York Times entitled “Please Stop Telling Me America Is Great.”

Coupled with the left’s meltdown over President Trump’s planned patriotic 4th of July spectacular in Washington, D.C. are countless diatribes about America.

Jarrett joked that while he normally likes to start his day reading the New York Times as comedy, it has now become “tragedy.” Gorka quipped that is actually more of a “perversion.”

“I have one question for The New York Times. Which nation is great?” Gorka asked, after questioning the wisdom of those in charge of the publication that allowed a video that “trashes our country” just before “the biggest national holiday” of the year.

“Is it any of the nations in Europe that initiated two World Wars in the last century, that perfected the concentration camp and genocide? Is it Russia? Is it China?” Gorka asked. “Which other country in the world sees a man risk his life and the life of his 20-month-old daughter to cross the Rio Grande and cone to freedom? No other country, only America.”

Kirk argued that “the same people that were spitting on soldiers in the 1960’s and 70’s are now running our universities,” and are editorializing with their anti-military messages.

“It’s our military that allows us to celebrate July 4th and I applaud President Trump completely for remembering our troops,” he continued.

MSNBC’s Joy Reid denounced the inclusion of military vehicles and tanks in the planned festivities Thursday as a “threat” against Americans by Trump, making the ludicrous claim that the president of the United States “aspires to be” North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un or Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Gorka asserted that Trump loves the military and the nation while noting that former President Obama “bombed more nations than any other president since Truman and Roosevelt.”

“Did the New York Times have a problem with this?” he asked.

“This revisionist history of the left is so morally reprehensible,” Kirk added, citing the latest controversy over the Betsy Ross flag and the shoes that were yanked from production by Nike.

“We must remember our founding fathers and thank them that we get to live in the greatest country ever to exist.”
