Well, given their hold on power, it’s understandable if the political class, to include the media, is a little nervous at the thought of tanks rolling into the nation’s capital.
The TDS cabal is feeling uptight over the idea of President Trump being involved in the planning for the annual 4th of July celebration in D.C., and the Washington Post reported on “negotiations over whether to use massive military hardware, such as Abrams tanks or Bradley Fighting Vehicles, as a prop for Trump’s ‘Salute to America.'”
Citing anonymous sources, of course.
It’s no secret that the president is proud of the U.S. military, just as he is proud of law enforcement agents across the country.
When asked by reporters in the Oval Office about the report, Trump confirmed that tanks will be “on display” during the celebration — the very thought surely causing some to clutch their pearls in horror.
“We’re going to have a great Fourth of July in Washington, D.C. It will be like no other,” the president said. “It’ll be special and I hope a lot of people come and it is going to be about this country and it’s a salute to America.
Trump added that he will attend the festivities and “say a few words.”
“And we’re going to have planes going overhead — the best fighter jets in the world and other planes too,” he continued. “And we’re going to have some tanks stationed outside. Gotta be pretty careful with the tanks because the roads have a tendency not to like to carry heavy tanks, so we have to put them in certain areas.”
“But we have the brand-new Sherman tanks and the brand-new Abram tank and we have some incredible equipment, military equipment on display. Brand-new, and we are very proud of it.”
The president went on to say that the U.S. is making a lot of new tanks right now.
“We’re building a lot of new tanks in Lima, Ohio, our great tank factory that people wanted to close down until I got elected and I stopped it from being closed down and now it’s a productive facility–– it’s the greatest tank in the world, the Abrams,” Trump said.

NBC’s Andrea Mitchell took to Twitter to claim tanks are “so beyond the spirit” of a holiday marking America’s independence after beating Britain in the Revolutionary War.
Trump says there will be military tanks at Fourth of July celebration. This is so beyond the spirit if this holiday … https://t.co/EtbcFkYv0z

Mitchell had plenty of support from fellow pearl-clutchers:
Trump asks for military tanks on the Mall as part of grandiose July Fourth event https://t.co/nb3hj9fALf Like the Soviet days of old. He’s got no clue what America is about

The Trump haters were also quick to jump on the president saying there would be “brand-new Sherman tanks,” an apparent slip of the tongue, given the World War II era M4 Sherman went out of service in 1957.
At least President Trump can properly pronounce the name. Right, Barack Obama?

Hey @realDonaldTrump, the US hasn't made any Sherman tanks in over 60 years.
Also, why are you suing to eliminate health care coverage for Americans with pre-existing conditions? https://t.co/8yMs9iuwhm

Sherman tanks last saw duty in the 1950s. https://t.co/fpBkvxxiVs
