The co-hosts of “Fox & Friends” contended that Democrats pushed a far-left immigration agenda during the first 2020 Democratic debate, with Julian Castro blatantly advocating open-borders.
Decriminalizing the illegal crossing of the U.S. border seemed to be supported by many of the 10 candidates who appeared in the first Democratic primary debate held Wednesday, the Fox News co-hosts noted during a discussion on “Fox & Friends” Thursday.

Brian Kilmeade noted the “friction” between Julian Castro and former Texas congressman Beto O’Rourke on the topic as he was “taken on” by Castro who pressed him on his lack of accomplishment on decriminalization while he was in Congress.
“I just think it’s a mistake, Beto, I think it’s a mistake, and if you truly want to change the system, then we gotta repeal that section,” Castro had said during the debate, talking about the law that makes crossing the border illegally a criminal offense.
O’Rourke “just shrunk,” Kilmeade noted. “He had nothing to say.”
“On the debate around immigration, the thing that was lacking was the word ‘illegal,'” host Lisa Boothe remarked, noting the obvious difference between those who choose to come to the U.S. legally versus those who do not.
“You have Julian Castro who’s just straight-up advocating for no borders He’s advocating for decriminalizing illegal immigration. To me, what’s the point of being a sovereign nation if we don’t have borders?” she added.
“Most of us have relatives born outside of the country. So no one is anti-immigrant here – we get it, ” Kilmeade said.
“It’s the way they’re doing it. It’s diminishing those who are actually waiting in line. It’s diminishing people that are actually doing it the right way,” he added, as Boothe noted it is “fundamentally unfair” to those who came to the U.S. the right way.
Co-host Steve Doocy read a quote from a New York Post op-ed by John Podhoretz.
“All in all, Democrats spent far more time talking about how they would help illegal immigrants than about how they would help the voters they most need to win over — the white working-class Obama voters who pulled the lever for Trump in 2016,” Podhoretz wrote.
Even the left seemed unimpressed with the first act of the Democratic debates Wednesday, with Hollywood liberals panning the performances in social media critiques.

Even Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, appearing on “The Late Show” with Stephen Colbert, mocked the “high school classroom” atmosphere where candidates were like students who “didn’t seem like they read the book, and then they got called on.” She also drew attention to the interesting and somewhat awkward moments of Spanish speaking by O’Rourke and New Jersey Se. Cory Booker, among others.

President Donald Trump and Senate Judiciary Committee chair Lindsey Graham sent the left into a meltdown with their mockery of the evening. Trump simply called the debate “boring” in a tweet soon after the event had begun and later slammed a “truly unprofessional” technical gaffe.
“If I were Brad Parscale, Donald Trump’s campaign manager, I would be dancing a jig,” Podhoretz wrote in his op-ed.”Because if this is the way the Democrats and the media want to discuss the economy and immigration, he is going to have a field day with the quotes they will generate from now until the election,” he wrote.
