Guaranteeing solid sales numbers, the writer E. Jean Carroll has claimed in an essay excerpted from her new book that she was raped by Donald Trump in the mid-1990s. Of course, as a result, she is getting a free whirlwind media tour to promote the claim, as well as the book entitled “What Do We Need Men For? A Modest Proposal,” scheduled for release July 2.

Carroll says that Trump sexually assaulted her in a department store dressing room. In the book she also claims that former CBS executive Les Moonves raped her in an elevator in roughly the same time period. Both men have denied her allegations.

During his vehement denial of the accusation against him, in an interview with The Hill, President Trump said, “I’ll say it with great respect … number one, she’s not my type. Number two, it never happened. It never happened, OK?”

Trump told The Hill that Carroll was “totally lying.”

“I know nothing about this woman,” said Trump. “I know nothing about her. She is – it’s just a terrible thing that people can make statements like that.”

“She is trying to sell a new book — that should indicate her motivation. It should be sold in the fiction section,” Trump said in a statement released by the White House.

CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Monday interviewed Carroll. After plugging the book title, Cooper quotes the President, saying: “He said, ‘I’ll say with great respect. Number one she’s not my type and number two, it never happened, it never happened, okay.'”

“I love that!” Carroll weirdly exclaimed. “I am so glad I’m not his type. I’m so glad.”

“This is — this was 20 years ago,” she continued. “And I probably was at that moment in that five minutes the most attractive woman in that one bit of time.”

“And you think that’s what it was about for him?” Cooper asked.

“I don’t know what it was about,” she replied. “We were — Anderson, we were having a high old time. You remember Donald Trump … hale fellow, well met, walking up and down the streets of New York, greeting everybody, everybody liked him … ‘95, ‘96 he was Shakespearean, he was great. You’d love to see him on the street. When we met in Bergdorfs, he said, help me to find a present, I was thrilled. I thought this is hilarious.”

Cooper interrupted, aiming to get back to the outrage, and away from the reflection of those Trump glory days. “The statement that, he said, which he just made which is she’s not my type, that was the number one thing,” he said.

“I love that I’m not his type,” the advice columnist reiterated.

“He had said that previously,” Cooper pointed out. “There was a woman, Jessica Leeds, who came forward,” before playing video of Trump’s denial about her accusation.

“He also called Miss Universe fat, Miss Piggy I think he called her,” said Carroll. “Miss Universe, one of the most beautiful women in the solar system and he called her fat.”
