Self-important liberal journalist Howard Fineman, currently slinging his spitballs from NBC Studios in New York, has Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) and is not afraid to show it.
On Saturday, he tweeted: “As a reporter/writer who spent 30 years at the (great) old Newsweek, and who admired @TIME, I’ve gotta say that this image is an outrage. I know that Henry Luce worshipped the Great Man Theory, but when he put a dictator on the cover, he didn’t visually kiss his ass.”
In other words, Fineman’s comrades at the magazine that is doomed to follow Fineman’s beloved Newsweek into the recycling bin of history did too good a job with their respectful cover image of the President for its July 1 issue.
It certainly is a great picture of President Trump leaning on the famed Resolute desk in the Oval Office, which was a gift from Queen Victoria to President Rutherford B. Hayes in 1880. The desk was built from timbers of the British ship HMS Resolute.
The actual TIME feature article entitled, “‘My Whole Life Is a Bet.’ Inside President Trump’s Gamble on an Untested Re-Election Strategy” does a fair job presenting the 2020 campaign, as viewed from the Oval Office. White House reporter Brian Bennett promoted his feature this week in a tweet …
“He’s not pivoting,” said Jared Kushner. “The President is who he is and doesn’t pretend to be anything else.” Our cover story on Trump’s wager that his instincts and ability to excite his base will be enough to keep the White House. https://t.co/U6HYfpiLRA pic.twitter.com/g0Hrjasdl4

Apparently, when a journalist such as Fineman exhibits Stage Five TDS symptoms, sensitivity to anything less than fake-news, butcher-shop hacks and slashes on the President brings on unbridled outrage. Quite sad.
So he’s mad because it’s a decent photo of Trump? JFC can these guys get anymore petty?

I’m not sure we should be challenging them since we both know the answer is “Yes, yes they can get more petty.” TDS is a nasty illness & seems to only be getting worse.

Oh, get a grip, Fineman. Trump has a lot of problems, but he is not a “dictator” or “Fascist,” regardless of how much you hysterical old ladies clutch your pearls. https://t.co/vwt4vLtLhP

This is a classic example of the impotent hyperbole so prevalent now in the Democrat Party and with their media allies. If Trump was really a dictator, Fineman would be in jail or dead, not doing inane bloviation on Twitter. Gimme a break with this over-the-top idiocy. https://t.co/KyLa5ldRTL

One paragraph from the TIME article pretty well sums it up and really confirms what we all know–that the President is firmly in command of his 2020 campaign. And that is probably what really scares the left, since his political instincts have been shown to be uncanny …
Once again, Trump is putting his own instincts at the center of his campaign. The political mercenaries who tried to discipline his impulses in 2016 have been shown the door. The 2020 campaign is unmistakably Trump’s show. “We all have our meetings,” the President says. “But I generally do my own thing.” Campaign staff have been hired to follow Trump’s lead, and the President has made it known that when he tweets a new policy or improvises an attack at a rally, everyone had better be ready to follow along. “He blows the hole and everyone runs into the breach,” says an aide.
