Hannity still waiting for proof he was spied on, but Mueller has some of his text messages

Editor’s Note: There has been a change in the headline to this post. The previous headline incorrectly indicated that the Paul Manafort texts were proof Sean Hannity was spied on.

For years Fox News host Sean Hannity claimed that the Obama administration was spying on him. The public release Friday of a text-message exchange between him and President Donald Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort didn’t ease his suspicions.

Unsealed by U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson, the far-left Obama appointee with a suspiciously Democrat-friendly history, the text messages date from July 14, 2017 to June 5, 2018, and show Hannity speaking sympathetically to Manafort about his legal ordeals.

While the text messages were sent after former President Barack Hussein Obama departed office, they were obtained by special counsel Robert Mueller as part of his failed investigation into Russian collusion. And it’s long been suspected that this investigation was part of a coup, per se, launched by Obama administration officials to prevent Trump from winning the 2016 election. After Trump won the election, the purpose then allegedly became to essentially dethrone him.

To be clear, all of this still remains mere speculation. However, Attorney General Bill Barr and U.S. Attorney John Durham’s ongoing investigation into the predicates of the collusion probe are eventually expected to reveal once and for all whether this speculation is correct.

The texts released by Jackson show nothing incriminating or damaging. In their exchange, both Hannity and Manafort simply expressed their frustration and anger regarding the special counsel and his team’s allegedly “criminal” actions.

See screenshots of all the texts below:

“Mueller is trying to intimidate me,” Manafort wrote in anger after Mueller’s team raided his home in the summer of 2017. “The raid is just one example. I won’t let him succeed but it is very lonely fighting this fight. I feel all alone out there. Except for you and a few others, our side is not engaged.”

“Don’t let those assholes get u down. Punch back HARD,” Hannity wrote in text on Oct. 28, 2017, a day after Manafort was served his first indictment.

“They are self-righteous criminals,” Manafort himself wrote in a Feb. 3, 2018 text regarding Mueller and his team.

Here are some more notable texts from the pair:

  • Manafort “The media is trying to split me with DT and family by lies and untruths. It is such a dirty game.”
  • Manafort: “I have new lawyers who are junk yard dogs and will undo a lot of this injustice. But it is going to be a painful and expensive fight for me.”
  • Manafort: “Your monologue tonight was the best summary ever of the case against Mueller and his team.”
  • Manafort: “You help me keep my hope and sanity.”
  • Hannity: “I pray that God give you grace and peace in this difficult moment. If you ever just want to talk, grab dinner, vent, strategize — whatever, I am here. I know this is very hard. Stand tall and strong.”
  • Hannity: “I do care about this amazing country that is sooo soo off course and experience unreal corruption. And I’m gonna fight for the country I love. And if they win so be it.”

Again, there’s nothing incriminating or damaging in the texts, as Hannity himself noted in the following tweet he directed at the media late Friday afternoon:

HERE’S WHAT YOU’RE MISSING …

Of course, the media seem to feel differently.

“What I find interesting is that those on the right often accuse ‘the media’ of working hand-in-hand with the Democratic Party. And here, we have an example of the most prominent conservative personality on Fox doing EXACTLY THAT with a Republican operative,” CNN propagandist Oliver Darcy kvetched in Friday’s “Reliable Sources” newsletter.

Other propagandists shared the same sentiment

It’s unclear how Hannity expressing sympathy to Manafort is any way, shape or form equivalent to, say, CNN’s contributors sharing debate questions with Democrat candidates and, worse, members of the media plotting with the Democrat National Committee on how to bolster the Democrat Party’s narrative.

HERE’S WHAT YOU’RE MISSING …

What’s notable is the media’s lack of interest in the fact that Hannity was effectively spied upon. What else would you call it when a government official obtains access to your text messages?

During an appearance on radio show host Rose Tennent’s program, the FNC host reportedly vowed that if “there was surveillance of me and unmasking of me,” he would “sue everybody involved.”

“You know, look, I’m only reading the same things that you’re reading and I don’t have any confirmation at all, but apparently somebody is saying that there was surveillance of me and unmasking of me,” he said. “I will say this,” he added. “If it ever does turn out to be true, I will be filing suit because, you know they can’t say that is incidental surveillance.”

The media also appear to be uninterested in the fact that Mueller’s team spied on Trump’s campaign. What remains unknown is whether Mueller spied on Trump himself.

“We will have to find out if they were listening on my calls, that would be the ultimate. If they spied on my campaign, and they may have, it will be one of the great revelations in history of this country,” the president said during an appearance Wednesday on FNC’s “Hannity.”
