ICE releases list of criminal illegal aliens let out of prison as Trump honors Gov DeSantis for no sanctuary law

Bringing attention to the ramifications of sanctuary laws, ICE released a list of illegal immigrants who were freed from prison and protected from federal authorities only to go on to commit more crimes in the U.S.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement released on Monday the details of criminal illegal aliens in custody in the states of Washington and Oregon who were able to dodge apprehension due to sanctuary city policies and, in many cases, go on to endanger Americans by committing more crimes.

“There is an inherent increase in risk to personnel and bystanders when ICE officers and agents must go out into the community to proactively locate these previously detained criminal aliens,” a press release from the agency read. “ICE commends our local law enforcement colleagues who work to minimize that risk by cooperating with ICE to apprehend criminal aliens at the time of their release from local custody.”

The Democrat-run states of Washington and Oregon have protected illegal immigrants by enacting some of the most restrictive sanctuary policies in the nation, with Democratic Gov. Jay Inslee signing legislation last month that effectively bans jails from honoring ICE detainers and from informing federal authorities when a migrant is about to be released.

In contrast, newly elected Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed one of the toughest sanctuary bills in the country last week, but this one was aimed at banning any “state entity, local governmental entity, or law enforcement agency from having a sanctuary policy.”

President Trump applauded DeSantis for his stand on Twitter following the signing the state bill into law, and gave the Republican governor a shout-out during his reelection launch campaign rally in Orlando on Tuesday.

“Democrats support sanctuary cities. Thank you Governor Ron for ending that whole disaster,” Trump said to cheers, calling it a “common sense” move.

“Without the cooperation of local officials, EROs ability to perform its federally mandated mission is hindered and dangerous criminal aliens, like those described below, could remain in our communities to reoffend,” the ICE news release said Monday, referring to the list of examples cited. “The expeditious removal of these offenders promotes public safety and reduces the overall cost to taxpayers.”

The consequences of these sanctuary polices were detailed in several examples by ICE:

County jail releases illegal alien, man later kills wife and self in apparent murder-suicide
In December 2016, ICE located and lodged a detainer on Christian Octavio Parra, who was being held in a county jail in Washington. Octavio Parra was a Mexican citizen who was illegally present in the U.S. and had prior immigration encounters. Local jail officials did not honor the immigration detainer and released the convicted criminal in August 2017 without notifying ICE. A little over a month later, Octavio Parra shot and killed his estranged wife before taking his own life.

Illegal alien arrested for murdering, dismembering victim after local police fail to notify ICE of his release
In October 2017, ICE identified Rosalio Ramos-Ramos who is an illegally present Honduran citizen with prior criminal convictions and four prior removals from the United States at a city jail in Washington. ICE lodged a detainer, but he was released without notification to ICE. In January 2018, Ramos-Ramos was arrested again and booked at a local county jail for murder. ICE has lodged another detainer with local jail officials.

Other examples included that of an Oregon county jail that released an illegal immigrant and convicted convict in 2018 without notifying ICE and how he went on to allegedly murder his wife.  In a case in Washington, Jorge Luis Romero-Arriaga was released to the community after being held on a charge of child rape. Again, authorities did not honor the ICE detainer against the illegal immigrant who went on to be “convicted of multiple counts of assault” before finally being deported.

“Oregon Democrats are more interested in political games, at the expense of real lives, than they are at upholding the rule of law,” Jonathan Lockwood, a Republican spokesman at the Oregon Legislature, told The Daily Caller News Foundation in a statement. “Gov. Kate Brown is endangering Oregonians on virtually every level and has no business being in the governor’s office.”

Bryan Wilcox, acting field operations director for ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations, slammed the “decision to protect and release criminals.”

“When local law enforcement decides to uphold sanctuary policies and release illegal criminal aliens without notifying ICE, it is a decision to protect and release criminals who are preying on victims in our communities. By allowing criminal aliens, particularly those with egregious criminal records, to be released it places everyone in potential danger,” he said.
