‘Fox & Friends’ talks to energized Trump supporters camped out in anticipation of Fla. rally: ‘We’re former Dems’

You won’t hear this from the mainstream media, but among the army of Trump supporters who were amassing outside Orlando’s Amway Center all throughout Monday and Tuesday in anticipation of the launch of the president’s 2020 re-election campaign were a bevy of former Democrats.

“To support our president, this is a bucket list item and to support #WalkAway,” one supporter named Maria told Fox News correspondent Lauren Blanchard during Tuesday morning’s edition of FNC’s “Fox & Friends” after being asked why she and her friends, Nancy and Jenny, had been camping out outside Amway Center since as early as 3:30 pm Monday afternoon.

We are all former Dems,” she added.

“I just love the fact that he unites everybody,” Nancy said when asked by Blanchard about what she’d like to hear from the president Tuesday night. “And it’s just like a rock concert. You get so excited.”

“And I just think that what I want to hear is what he has planned for everybody to move forward. He does such a good job at getting things done. Show a game plan. Let us know what’s the next step. Get us jazzed up. Because we already are, but we just don’t want it to stop. This is awesome.”

The president’s re-launch event Tuesday evening has received over 100,000 tickets requests, according to Fox, though sadly, Orlando’s Amway Center can only seat 20,000.

And that, in fact, is one of the chief reasons why so many Trump supporters like Maria, Nancy and Jenny congregated outside the venue so early — to make sure they got a ticket.

“We know that there’s going to be a lot of people here, so we decided to get here early. And we’re just really excited to hopefully get as close as possible to Trump,” another Trump supporter said to Orlando station WOFL on Monday.

“Rain or shine, we’re going to stay here no matter what!” yet another said.

Rain, scattered thunderstorms and uncomfortably high humidity were forecast for Orlando on Tuesday. To get by, some Trump supporters had brought lawn chairs. Others had rented a hotel and were taking turns standing in line.

Dovetailing back to Maria, Nancy and Jenny, if you think they’re irrelevant anomalies who aren’t representative of any major trend, you might be mistaken.

According to analysis by Cornell University’s Roper Center for Public Opinion Research, 8 percent of 2016 presidential election voters were self-identified Democrats, while 10 percent were self-identified liberals:

Going into the 2020 election, there’s a chance these numbers might climb even higher, in part because of the #WalkAway movement that Maria referenced.

Launched in 2018 by Brandon Straka, a former Democrat turned openly gay Trump supporter, the movement has encouraged Democrats fed-up with the Democrat Party’s identity politics, political correctness and insane policy proposals to jump ship and join the president’s team.

Since the movement’s launch, it’s spread like wildfire:

While it’s unclear how many #WalkAway members would ultimately show up for the president’s re-election launch, what’s clear is that the president’s supporters were willing to do anything for a chance to hear his voice live.

Tough it through the rain:

Sit bored to tears for hours at a time:

Sleep outside:

And wait and wait and wait:

Is all this enough to guarantee his victory? That much remains unclear, particularly in light of recent polling data showing the president losing to the top five Democrat presidential candidates.

However, according to Fox News contributor Buck Sexton, it helps greatly that the economy is on fire and that Trump has an uncanny ability to drum up support.

“Even some of his most vociferous critics admit he is just a beast on the campaign trail. … There is nobody on the Democratic side who comes even close to just the pure performance art on the campaign trail that this president can put forward,” Buckton said Monday on FNC’s “Fox News @ Night.”
